GUI NN 2.06 not better than Cake 1.85

I have been running numerous engine tests on a high end modern desktop PC. It seems like while GUI NN 2.06 as the third best machine learning based modern engine, it is much better than the old hand crafted Cake 1.85 in crossboard. However with opening books on, Cake 1.85's 1.8 million opening book ...

Re: Binomial Checkers

CheckerPlayer and Aurora already are great database programs but this 12 piece database is interesting. I think we need an official match, Binomial vs Kingsrow or Cake. 300 Euro though, I would buy it if its 100 euro

Does anyone know if this is the same Hunt

In the OCA database there is a E. Hunt/E.F. Hunt which is Edwin Francis Hunt, but there is also a E.C. Hunt and a R.E. Hunt. Does anyone know if these are different people? E.C. Hunt played Grover in the 1946 ACA tournament, which Edwin Hunt seemed to have participated in according to my research. B...

Re: Machine-learned engines

they were the standard 144 openings in the engine match feature (so 288 game match), it was played under 2 sec and 5 seconds a move. The PC is a bit older, an older i5 with 12 GB ram.

Re: Machine-learned engines

Hey Fierz, when I tested the latest Cake 1.88q it lost in two engine matches under different timer settings against GUI NN (both using the 10 piece database). GUI NN loses against the older Cake 1.88d, but Cake 1.88q narrowly beats Cake 1.88d.

Re: Machine-learned engines

Hello Fierz, I was wondering if you still have a copy of the original Cake++ 1.41 or a functional version of Cake San Souci? It would be nice to have a copy of these antique programs and compare them to the modern programs. It's a good way to see how engines have progressed over the years. Nemesis v...
