Congratulations on being the first to produce a 12 piece Draughts Database, an amazing achievement - Well Done !
It's said a recent report from Wall Street mentions a surge in demand for 3T+ Hard Drives.

Re: Binomial Checkers
For my day-to-day activities and needs I am completely satisfy with Kingsrow for 15 years. I can’t imagine situation when 12 pieces EDB help me more than 10, but 3 TB is a lot. You can always get the pro version it has the complete 10 piece db and the most useful part of the 12 db and it doesn't us...

Re: Binomial Checkers
Regarding the price you have to remember that the database fills a lot so there is cost involved with the installation media also VAT, shipping, payment processing, hosting etc. Also when you consider the computing power necessary to compute the database, there is pretty much no way that I can even ...

Re: Binomial Checkers
I have run a number of matches against Kingsrow and Binomial wins more than it loses. The importance of engine strength is highly overrated in my opinion - who actually plays against an engine anymore ?. Its more about how usefullness the overall package is. You typically run kingsrow in checkerboar...

No its 12 piece database.
The ultimate version comes with the complete 12 piece database and it fills almost 3 TB
The pro version only has the part with max 1 king per side it doesn't fill much more than 10 db.

Re: WCDF Ratings Update?
Scoring by game or by ballot will not change anything in the rating list. You are simply multiplying the rating differences by a constant, but the information content is the same. If you have three players at 2200, 2100 and 2000 or if you have the same three players at 1100, 1050 and 1000 or at 165...

Re: CHECKERS SOLVED??? - DEGREES OF SOLVABILITY
Being able to make a move within the required time limit is the normal condition - there is nothing abnormal about it. You are going to have to explain to me how a time limit is abnormal I just don't understand your thinking. Also are you reading that as though it is uniformly 2 minutes - I read th...

Re: CHECKERS SOLVED??? - DEGREES OF SOLVABILITY
Assuming that all of the proof tree is correct Chinook could still lose if the timer is less than 2 minutes per move. Sure. Or if the hard disk breaks or if electricity blacks out, or if the human operator makes a mistake. But we usually don't take into consideration "abnormal" conditions...

Re: CHECKERS SOLVED??? - DEGREES OF SOLVABILITY
Dear Liam, It's actually quite simple. Checkers is solved in the sense that: If you play GAYP against Chinook, you will NEVER win, and you may lose. The same is true if the opponent of Chinook is Michele Borghetti, Kingsrow or anybody/anything else. Assuming that all of the proof tree is correct Ch...

I won't argue with you anymore, because it is not fair to fight a battle of wits with an unarmed person, such as yourself.

Re: Computer programs tournament
The articles I have read through are extreme thin on details especially regarding the soundness of their search. I've read every paper on checkers Schaeffer has published. He cited some of my own published papers in more than one of his papers. I would be delighted to see the list of papers you thi...
