Re: Ratings

tommy,I think alot of it is some tmts arent sent in for ratings. Its really up to the players to get the results in, or push to have it done. Some players just like to play and dont care one way or other about ratings. Coming from a chess background both as a player and tmt director,if it wasnt a ra...

Re: Pro checkers game

I like your Pro Checkers board alot. But not the algebraic board. Of course the algebraic chess board is different from yours shown. One thing to add would be the ACF membership form.in the box. :o

Re: Pro checkers game

Having Alex on the box would be good, Tom Wiswell, the GAYP Champion did that in the 60s. Wouldnt it be nice to have a vinyl roll up board with checker notation instead of algebraic!!!! You know if the Pro checkers came with a simple primer by Alex that would be good too.

Re: Pro checkers game

When I posted the comment about the Pro Checkers game I was thinking about the US market. I still feel it would be a good seller for a game company. I know that all companys want the products to sell or they wont invest in it. I felt like it would be different and might draw from a different crowd. ...

Pro checkers game

The way game companys are always trying to take old games and update them with different formats like monopoly etc. I f we could pitch a new checker game called Pro Checkers that would come with 3 move cards and a numbered board and red and white plastic pieces. I think it would be a big seller and ...

Re: No "Checkers for Dummies" or &quot

Checker books do sell!!! Robert Pikes books sell real well!!! Ive seen his little puzzle book at several big time book stores. The one book that Richard Pask had with Everyman Starting out in Checkers has sold well too. Maybe getting Alex signed up with a company like Everyman or Robert Pikes Sterli...

Re: No "Checkers for Dummies" or &quot

In the early eighties the US Chess federation really went after the youth and for that matter members in general. The Bobby Fischer boom was over and the member ship had fallen off. They came out with youth only nationals and 6 month memberships for adults. Schools added chess ,which in turn fueled ...

3 day U S Open

In chess every year they have a US Open, where players of all
strengths can play each other.
This wouldnt replace nationals but if run right with good sponsorship
would bring new members to ACF.
Like time limits with clocks.
Just something to think about.
