As I understand it the deadline was the reason the ACF had to name its representatives to the WCDF before our National TY, now John and I will have to wait until 2009 to play in the World Qualifier. If you have a deadline everyone must abide by it or there is no use having a deadline.

Re: Final Results of 2007 GAYP Nationals
The Roster of Champions in the ACF Bulletins you are speaking of just list the winner of the U.S. Open National TY not the U.S. Champions. You can not be National Champion of a country you don't live in, just like you can not be State Champion of a state you don't live in. I can not figure out why t...

Re: Final Results of 2007 GAYP Nationals
Look at the Roster of Champions on this website, it lists Richard Beckwith as U.S. GAYP National Champion and Alex Moiseyev as U.S. 3-move National Champion. it also lists Ron King as 2005 US GAYP National Ty winner and as 2006 US 3-move National Ty winner

Re: Final Results of 2007 GAYP Nationals
Jim, I would like to see one of those old Bulletins that refer to Oldbury and King as U.S. National Champions. I think they probably say they were the winners of the U.S. National Tournament, which is an open tournament. I seriously doubt if you can find an old Bulletin that said either was the U.S....

Alex,
The North Carolina website agrees with me, out from John's name(under comments) it says USA National Champion.

Re: Final Results of 2007 GAYP Nationals
Alex, When I lived in Texas I won the TN Open Ty and even though I owned a home in TN they said I could not be TN State Champion. I do not know of any state that will let you be State Champion if you do not live in that state. I have not searched through the ACF By-Laws for this, but in the late 80'...

Re: Final Results of 2007 GAYP Nationals
Alex, Someone from another country can't be US Champion, just like you can't be the Tennessee State Champion if you do not live in Tennessee. Kondlo is the 2007 US GAYP Open Champion, but as I said Webster is the US Champion as highest finishing resident. Just like in Tennesse this year you were the...

Re: Final Results of 2007 GAYP Nationals
Alex, I have noticed you keep referring to Kondlo as the 2007 U.S.A. National Champion. Even though he is the winner of the 2007 U.S. National GAYP Open Ty, John Webster is the 2007 U. S. GAYP National Champion( as the highest finishing U.S. resident)

Re: Gerry Lopez Response
Oldbury's wishes were that all the interest(-10%back to principal) goes to the top 5 finishers in the Masters divsion. That means in addition to the regular prizes the top 5 get $4600 split among them( to be determined by the prize committee). If you look in the old bulletins for the GAYP tys, you w...

Re: 50 game collections?
Hi Jim, Yes, send me the the 50 games from the 1998 Northern. I didn't even know they existed. I never played Tinsley, the 1994 National Ty was the only tournament I played in that he also played in. I have several games I played with Lowder though. I understand you were collecting his as well. Gene...

Re: 50 game collections?
Jim, I played in the Florida open in 1997, 1998, 1999, and maybe 2000? I also played in the Northern in 1997(I think) in Ken Bar Inn in KY I also played in the Northern a year or so later in Fostoria Ohio. I don't think any of the games from these tys have been published. Richard Beckwith did make m...

Re: World Qualifier Attendance
I asked John if he would have played had he been asked first. He said that he would have but its no big deal, and he wasn't going to worry about it. I think it is a shame that he was passed over to start with until someone cried foul. I would like to know who was on the selection committe, as the &q...

Re: Danish Open 2007
I am back at home now. I had a wonderful time, Copenhagen is a beautiful and interesting city. I enjoyed meeting eveyone, as Joan and Ian Caws were the only ones I knew previously. Checker players are truly wonderful people throughout the world I think.

Re: World Qualifier Attendance
I agree that Michael is qualified, but John Webster has a better record at GAYP, has a higher rating and he finished higher in the 2005 GAYP and yet he was not asked. No offense intended but, I agree with P.R. favoritism is definitely a factor in the ACF selection process(at least this time). Gene L...
