Re: Checkers in the news again

Thank you for sharing those articles, Bob. They are well-written, and one is very humorous! The exposure is a great thing, I think....the more the better!

I am certain that checkers has a very bright future both in the U.S. and the world over.

Re: " CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users

That is true Tommy and there ought first of all to be some appreciation for what IS done. There is a baby in this bathwater....hard work from a lot of dedicated members and officers of the ACF. Constructive criticism is one thing....rash comments and bashing are another and in no way lead to improve...

Re: " CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users

Jay, Brainstorming is all about throwing ideas into the mix, no matter how outlandish they might appear at first sight, without being criticized. Thinking outside the box is critically important, as you say. I believe your ideas have merit, and this is exactly the kind of discussion that is needed. ...

Re: The state of checkers today!

In high school, our wrestling team set a state record for margin of victory that held for about 15 years. Over a two-year span, 7 of us won state championships in our respective weight classes (me included), and 7 others placed either 2nd or 3rd. Yet....not a single one of us would have ever dreamed...

Re: 11 man ballot National.

Frankly, Irma is right and she has more balls than the lot of you. Since Ryan is a tutor of Spanish-speaking pupils, he ought to be able to use that "landscaping" discussion with his students to demonstrate some of the more subtle forms of racist harassment in the English language. Or, alt...

Re: ACF Hoolums and Hooilgans

Billy, I don't need to know the whole story to see that it culminated in unacceptable behavior on the part of some young male ACF members. Being "new" doesn't disqualify me from recognizing that. Perhaps it makes it all the clearer to me. As I said, there ought to be repercussions, and in ...

Re: ACF Hoolums and Hooilgans

My opinion is this: Who cares if checkers has a future, unless people can act decently towards one another? Is checkers more important than life? Is skill at the game more important than good sportsmanship & cordiality? No it isn't. The future of checkers does not come down to "youth" ...
