Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Everyone:

Just now added " dahliag ' as a new forum member. This person emailed me and asked to be activated. I wrote back and requested full name and more information. They replied and I just now activated their account. I forwarded email reply to Kim and Dr. B.

This is the first person ( for some time now) attempting to join with a nickname that has complied with my request for full information that I requested.

We want new members, but your interest has t obe geared to our game and full name and information will have to be sent my way to become a member.

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

Second, just because you don't get your way on every single thing you bring up doesn't give you the right to act like a passive-aggressive spoiled brat. Alan could not "formulate a rebuttal" to your ideas?? You're setting everything up as you vs. the world, and yet you still wonder why we aren't all falling at your feet begging you to change the entire organization. Maybe we just aren't "dynamic and synergistic" enough to keep up with your massive ego.
Haha

I always thought "Shakespeare life style" never being in serious conflict with girls

Anyway, if both of you are satisfied with your life style, preferences and habbits, I don't see any reason to change it, just because it's different.

Since Shakespeare time, 500 years ago, the human society didn't get much progress and/or improvement in terms of human values, ethic standards, moral etc

First off, stupidity is a quality intrinsic to teenagers, so unfortunately for you Josh, we have to operate off the assumption that you're an idiot.

With that said, I have no clue what you're talking about. Mr. Millhone is a good ACF President in "relative but not absolute terms"? What does that even mean? Are you trying to say he's good at some things and not good at others? And if so, why don't you just say that and then actually list what he's good and bad at? I'm sure if Mr. Millhone was genuinely concerned with what you have to say (and there's a very, very, good chance that he's not) he would like to know what he's doing wrong so he can correct it.

Your use of big words to make you look intellectual aside, you try to make the point that Mr. Millhone apparently shouldn't screen who joins the forum (and, in a broader sense, who joins the ACF as well) because we are seeing a downward trend in who is playing checkers. "Can beggars be choosers?" you ask, and I say of course not. But I find it a little hard-pressed to compare the ACF to a beggar. The ACF remains a respectable organization, and as long as it does I think we should respectably consider who joins both the forum and the federation itself.

So, if you have such great ideas, why not post them on the forum? Mr. Millhone will have no choice but to entertain the ideas. That is, if they're good and if people actually think they're good ideas. And hell, I might even read them and think they're good. But that doesn't change the fact that you are in absolutely no place to critique how he does his job, as you obviously don't understand the dedication or just how sprawling the operation itself really is.

I think Mr. Millhone deserves an apology from you for totally unwarranted criticism on his job. You wonder why people don't respond to your messages. Maybe if you showed elders the respect they deserved, you'd get a little in return.

The reason I prefer to use a nickname over a publicly visible real name are the annoyances that can arise when a lot of information can be gathered by simply typing your name in Google. Some issues in the past and recent rise of identity theft makes me very cautious to just publish any info on the web concerning myself. I accept that my name, city, country etc. is visible to the members of this forum. I have no problem if someone contacts me concerning checkers through the email I provided. However I am not interested in registration for web cams, enhancements for certain body parts etc.

As I stated I consider myself a serious player who just wants full access to all the information on the forum (attachments, more means to plough through the information) and to have the ability to pose a question may I feel the need for it.

Although I appreciate the care that is taken to keep the trolls and spammers from the forum, I do feel that It should be a little easier to join the forum. It took some time from registration until my recent activation. The current internet generation (potential checker players) does not have the patience I have, they just move on to another site.

Hello Dahligag:

Patience is one of the true virtues of being a Checker player :-) Perhaps the majority don't want the ACF Forum to be just like every other forum on the web ? Personally I would like to see more games and diagrams posted and then discussion of new lines of play, annotated games, etc. I love running up games others have played with annotations. Average or professional annotations --- It does not matter to me. If it is Checker/Draughts related -- Bring it onto the forum for all to see and read.
