Checkers is just a game, pretty much played for pennies......
We all like to make a big deal and go down each others throat for such a small game.
Mate you are something else and I am surprised nobody has put you in your place before.
How dare you insult all the volunteers that put their effort, time and money into our great game????
How dare you insult the great champions, current and past that have made sacrifices to get to that level????
How dare you insult the checkers authors that have written books so we can improve????
How dare you insult the average checker player that attend tournaments and doesnt win prizes and glory but does it because they love the game???
Your posts are inflamatory and to provoke responses i have said that before....

if checkers is a dying game ... as you have posted well over 20 times b4 (i will produce some samples in a second. Why don't you BUGGER OFF and go and play roulette and poker and blackjack????????

Let me tell you something, CHECKERS WILL NOT DIE, the only way it will is if we let more idiots like you in our membership.
Make your Nostradamus-like predictions all you like..... checkers will not die.

And guess what, we are playing for PENNIES as u said b4, we could play for nothing and we would get the same people turning up
BECAUSE WE LOVE THE GAME.

I will add some quotes of a mere TIP OF THE ICEBERG of everything you have said since 07/08 onwards.

Good bye Ryan. Checkers is dying, I'm glad you're leaving before the ship sinks. Attendance at live tournaments is decreasing and internet checkers is dying. ahh R.I.P. Checkers
DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT AGAIN.... checkers will not die as long as there are a few of us who love the game and not money

Haha, two to three ten year olds are not going to save checkers, facts are it is almost dead. He may like checkers now, but what about in a few years, you know..when he has better things to do?
ALMOST dead .... keep predicting it, you will never get to see the end of checkers.

One of the funniest things is that author of these posts is Jolt - the one I want to invite to play in National. And he is not very old or kid, he is young adult. And his opinion is similar to what Adam (Max) said here - checkers is not his a main business or interest of his life.

In tough economy Jolt generation is the most victim, I can't blame him for being angry because I also not completely satisfy with many things around me, society and values. But checkers for me today - great escape from reality to phantom world  And indeed I have a dream that one day checkers will not be "penny like" game.

Alex, this person shows disdain to everyone with his posts if he really wants money get a job.
He disrespects everyone by making these predictions, shows a total lack of respect.

If money is the only incentive to come and play checkers theres a million other things he could do that will pay better. If he doesn't love the game, he never will and there's no cure for that. But dont rub our noses in it saying the game will die.

Josh you are clearly changing the subject..... and Alan you are an elected official you have the authority to do whatever you see fit as best for the game. Theres no need for polls, i am not an ACF member yet, so my vote doesnt count. but i vote for Josh to stay (provided he shows everyone a bit more respect) . the other one..... i dont know who he is or anything else.... just seen his nickname thrown around.

Surely if someone is interested in the game they can MAKE AN EFFORT and curb their insidious sarcasm and show but a little respect towards others.... there's no need to boot anyone.

Danny,

Well, I would just like to state that I make positive contributions to this website. I diligently update the checker problems as well as update the roster of champions. I think the roster is quite accurate and if you disagree then state the error and it will be corrected. I don't see what you do Danny, besides making double posts and ranting? You have a lot of pent up anger, I surmise parental issues and/or social troubles in your life.

Secondly, I completely agree with Josh. If you were to compare checkers in the early 2000s and as late as 2007, you will see that what he says is completely factual. I think what is being said here is what Alex is saying, checkers is just not a vital part of people's lives. It's not an attack on you Danny (because I'm beginning to think checkers is the only thing in your life), but an expression of personal feelings.

Hypothetically, if my hobby were collecting coins, would you care if I recently acquired a very rare silver dollar from the 18th century? You would mentally state, "I don't care, it doesn't change my life." This is the analogous to Josh stating that checkers is not important to him. Doesn't mean that you shouldn't love checkers. It doesn't matter to me whether you sleep next to checker pieces, shower with them, talk to your board, etc. Whatever fetish you have with checkers is your own, to each his own.

I may not be able to globe-trot around the world promoting checkers (I think if I took just two days off from work in this economy I would be fired), but it doesn't mean I hate it. I AM ONE OF THOSE VOLUNTEERS you were talking about. I update parts of this site, helped put together Eric's checker site, among other things.

Lastly, I really think you need to get out more Danny. You're delusional if you think they would remove us from the forum for expressing our opinions in a coherent and logical manner. I mean Alan has disliked me for the greater part of the past few years and actually deleted my name once (to a response of backlash). But, I made a commitment to update parts of this site, which I do, which is why he wouldn't remove me. Checkers is too fragile to turn people away.

P.S., You must have a lot of time on your hands to read all of the posts on Josh's names. I don't know if it's because your unpopular, introverted, or have some kind of mental disability.

The defense rests.
Your defense is predicated on the fact Danny's behavior is normal; ergo, any response to him should be civil. I would argue that looking through Josh's post for the past three years is in fact abnormal. I can imagine him on his computer in his parents' basement, slowly and deliberately going through each of Josh's 200+ posts. The sinister look on his face, completely oblivious to the outside environment, I'm pretty sure I invoked the same mental picture in your mind. I think my response is quite normal given the fact that he created a thread just to attack Josh for stating his opinions (which might I add attacked no one specifically).

Usually I would turn the other cheek, but my framework of ethics and morals will not allow me to look past this outright defamation of Josh's character. So will I say things that you disagree with John? Possibly, but knowing that I expressed my beliefs in an unflinching manner allows me to sleep at night. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this matter.

Anyway, I think anything Josh or I say in a thread specifically created to attack us has no bearing nor does it reflect on our overall demeanor.

Firstly Josh I am not calling you out, I'm making you accountable for the drivel you and your split personality post regularly.

Secondly, Jolt, I might get offended at the 5 or 6 insults you hurled my way if you weren't a spoiled brat and a joke.

Parental issues????? Lol u think we don't know that if you don't respect others and yourself you don't respect your parents either. I see mine every day, I love them and it's reciprocal.

Social issues??? Lol u want a mirror , keep hiding behind other peoples names and ur own nicknames.

Delusional???? Roflmao this one is your best one yet. You are delusional , u think u r a grandmaster and they offer to pay your way despite the fact u work, and you chicken out LoLoLoLoL

Unpopular, heh! Cause u r mr popularity, the only people that care about ratings in Kurnik and popularity are children and idiots who never grow up.

Mental instability, is thinking u r a great player when all you are is a wannabe.

WHO ARE YOU FOOLING FOOLS???
As far as getting out more I've been to 3 continents in the last 12 months!!!

Alan, if I was as fragile as these morons think I am I might spout some garbage about leaving unless u kick them . I will not put you in that position , I will stay regardless. But how can you guys put up with the total lack of
respect??? They are adults even if they don't act like it.

Is something going to be done?

You think we are all like you Jolt??

I don't live with my parents, there are no basements in Australia. And for the record I own my own home, I have a wife and 2 kids and until recently I had a very very successful business turning over more than what you will make in your lifetime in just one year. Unfortunately the GFC has hit us all.

You are more pathetic than what I thought.
Keep pretending that you are too cool for school. If u don't care about checkers what are u doing here and why do u have 20 million kurnik nicknames??

You seem mentally unstable Danny. From your messages, I can only imagine that your a combination of ignorance & immaturity. Of course you're not going to quit this forum, what else are you going to do with your life. First of all, I never claimed to be anything, nor have I claimed to be any level. Any perception you have of me is just a misconception that you've formulated from the 2-3 posts that I've made here.

Secondly, I never said I hated checkers. I'm most disappointed about the turn of events. A little bit about myself: I started playing in 1998 when I was only 10 years old. I started playing in Pogo and Yahoo. When I was 12, I started at VOG after meeting the former district manager Francesco, who kindly paid for my membership. I use to love playing Clint, Clayton, Michele, Dale, Steve, among others, now this was the golden age. VOG soon died, and I started playing at Kurnik in 2004-2005 (By the way, I only have 12-15 active names there in a 6-7 year duration, all of which I could care less about the ratings). In 2007 my interest in checkers peaked and I studied Sixth, Golden Dozen, Key Landings, Key Endings, and few select Boland, Gould, and Wiswell problems. In 2008 my interest began waning, which was exacerbated by the fact that I felt checkers was on a decline. Early 2008 I decided to concentrate on school, when I decided to become a pre-medical student. These days I don't have much time for checkers, I am taking my MCAT on January 29, as well as the GMAT on February 12. Unfortunately, I don't have time to to put into checkers, but I like to update the problem as well as the roster once a month, because I did make a commitment and say I would.

The real question is, who is Danny Alvarez? A Pseudonym maybe? I don't know, I don't care either. From what I can see, you're the type of person with an obsession. Your obsessive tendencies ruin your life, you jump from points A to C skipping B. You are neither rational, nor content with your life. You're illogical, incoherent, and impulsive with all your posts in this thread.

Do you think it's normal to read through someones post for the past 3 years, taking snippets out of context just so that you could make a thread an attack someone? That's a rhetorical question, but the answer is no. Contrary to belief, I'm going to state that I don't have a problem with you personally. Don't really care what kind of fetishes your into and what you do with your free time. But, I do have a problem with this thread...which is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rambling of a mad man. You certainly don't have to apologize to me, but if you had any decency you would apologize to Josh.

Why are you attacking Josh ? i think its unfair to make a thread. To personally attack someone, when i can't see they've done anything wrong and this seems way over the top. If you had a problem with Josh you should of messaged him privately, not make a thread to personally attack someone.

Josh is my age group i believe he's like few years younger than me ? and he's always come across as cool and very grown up for his age. I don't see why you feel the need to make a thread to rant at a kid.

I think this was pointless and childish on your part, and nothing good will come out of this.

Yeah I know you both think that you are above the law and that you can get away with anything. Every miscreant gets his day but eventually they get their punishment too.
