Extremely well said Danny. Being a night owl (nearly four in the morning here) I like nothing better than going over games of the great players and working on new lines to use in mail play. To beat a computer program it is essential to produce a line that convinces it that is winning when, in fact, it is in a loss. The greatest mail player, in my firm opinion, to achieve this is Mac Banks. Computer programs tend to overestimate a position when a piece up and this is where I managed, with the help of a magnificent Mac Banks cook, to defeat Nigel Proffitt and others. Merely using a program to beat another program can be a futile task. Marion Tinsley once said: "Computers can't really think."
