Ratings Update!!!!!

Post by Eric Strange »

Just wanted to give everyone an update with the progress of the new ratings system.

My programmer Vadim has been able to successfully create a page where u select the players and amount of rounds and it sets up a cross table looking screen. Then you input the outcome of each round for example 2T4 for each round and for each player and it successfully calculates each person ratings. It alculates rating after each round of play and properly handles bye's.

He is now working on adding support for new players and auto generation of player ID. He is also working to make sure total points are added properly at end of rounds. We are considering changing cross-tables to be only scores per round instead of accumulative points. For example the score of each round would only be 0-4 instead of adding rounds points together. We feel it is easier to read this way and accumulative points will appear for each player just not within the calculated cross-table portion. Again... this is just a consideration.

He is also going to be creating a round robin and swiss pairings system that will actually fill out the cross-table for you as the tournament progresses so that submission of this cross table to be calculated will be simple and easy. But the option to do pairings yourself and manually type in the cross-table will always be available.

For those of you who do not have computer access or prefer doing things "Old School".... you can always just submit the cross-table the way you always have and we will manually fill in cross table and submit to ratings for you... I would prefer you did not do it this way if at all possible though because it just creates more work for everyone else... including yourself.

We are nearing completion of at least the manually typing in cross table part and having rating calculated with the click of a mouse. Once this is complete I should be able to have ratings caught up to current year 2011 within a day or 2.

Thank you for all of your support and make sure u respond to this thread with any questions, concerns, or comments.
