- What do you like about checkers?: I love checkers. Worked in mental health years ago and had my first tournamnet for kids which brought about parents and grandparents reconnecting with face to face time, leaving out electronics and kids meeting people they might otherwise never have positive conversations and earning experiences with. Wehn I did that tournament an older man came to me to teach me. I never new about different boards and so much more-still learning-will never be like the people I met but am happy to keep learning. Thanks

Hello Eeryone
As a new person here, and a fairly new player can anyone suggest a good way to start to begin as a new person. I know I'm not good enough to play the way I'm sure most play here, but I do love te game and try to introduce others, kids as well as families to this. Thanks Checkerboardz4u-oh there will be a tournament in Hanover Pa. Sept 17th from 9-3:30 at the HAnover Y
Checkerboardz4u made and mailed in 3 weeks, red & black or Green and Buff 2 or 1.5 inch squares

Welcome to the ACF!!!
a good site to learn is http://cross-board.com/checkers There is material in there for the beginner all the way up to grand master. Tons of books, endgame play, and tournament games to study. Everything is animated onto a board so u can watch it played out. This forum is full of beginners so do not feel out of place. Thank you for your support of this game and hope you keep making an impact. We need it.

Welcome to the Forum! It's a very good one, always interesting and entertaining.
If you haven't done so already, you might want to take a look at the Disappearing Drueke Chess/Checker Boards? thread under the Checkers Books and Equipment topic. It might be of interest to you.
Once again, glad to have you on board (no, no ,it's not an intentional pun...honest...).
