10th. American Tournament (1939) Place your order now !

Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Checker/Draughts Players:

I just now left our printer's office having dropped off the 50 hand numbered cover pages for this fine book. Under each book's numbering are three lines that RLF , Jim Loy and myself individually hand signed . I could have copied the original but I wanted to add a touch of individuality to each book. Thus the cover pages were circulated thru the mail to each of us for signing. The books should be ready in a week and orders are welcome for this long lost series of the later and most important rounds. The book is expertly annotated by Mr. Richard L. Fortman , comments by Mr. Asa A. Long and assembled, typed, etc. by Mr. Jim Loy our ACF Bulletin Editor. In each book you will find bio's on the players, etc. and important to note that Mr. Gene Zuber of Ohio and Mr. Ed Bruch of N.Y. are still with us:-) . I guess my contribution (if you are wondering) was to approach Mr. Fortman at his home a year ago and asking him about the games and telling him I wanted to see them published. The book is spiral bound with a clear cover on the front and back of each book. Each book will also have a stiff vinly back cover to better protect each book. Copies are $20.00 each in the USA and add on another $5.00 for outside USA orders to defray postage. Money raised from the sale of these books goes directly into the ACF Treasury. You can order your copy from our ACF Web Site 'store' thru pay-pal . You can also send your US dollars directly to me at: Alan Millhone, Post Office Box # 1, Belpre,Ohio 45714-0001.

Sincerely:

This is an incredible book. The tournament took place in Flint, Michigan in 1939. The winner was Asa Long. Yes, I bought it because I'm from Michigan, but still! --George Hay
