Youth most interesting games in San Remo, Rd. 1-6

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Here is my continuation of series for youth games. I decided to do it in slight different format and selected just most interesting and attractive missings, not all of them which is quite a good number !

=============================================================================================

YOUTH.

#1. Rd.1, G1. A. Scaggiante vs G. G. Bruno

Red to move and win.

It seems like almost any reasonable move here should win for red but ... not quite! Alessio played here 7-11? which only leaded to unfortunate draw, but 14-18 shoudl win the game.

#2. Rd.2, G1. G. Bruno vs M. Durdyev

Red to move and draw.

Red previous move 9-13 was weak and 8-12 looks much better. However, only here in position on diagram, red made a losing move 8-12. I think 6-9 in position on diagram should save the game by playing carefully.

#3. Rd.2, G2. A. Scaggiante vs G. Gochakov

White to move.

This position is known to PP and 19-15 or 28-24 (perhaps best) is correct way to play. White tried suspicious 19-16? and after then any draw for white seems to be very doubtful

#4. Rd.2, G2. M. Durdyev vs G. Bruno

Red to move and win.

Beautiful middle game masterpiece ! Red played here 1-5 to draw but 2-7 generates a fine scientific win ! Continue from diagram: 2-7, 27x18, 7-10, 30-26 (24-19, 12-16, 19x12, 10-14 RW)10-15*, 26-23, 3-7, 32-28, 7-10, 24-19, 15x24, 28x19, 1-5, 21-17, 9-14, 18x9, 5x21, 23-18, 11-15, 18x11, 10-14 etc RW

#5. Rd.3, G1. G. Bruno vs G. Gochakov

White to move.

32-27 is completely OK, but white played 26-23?? and lost immediately after 18x27, 32x23, 15-18, 22x15, 7-11, 15x8, 3x26, 31x22, 1-5 etc RW

#6. Rd.3, G1. A. Scaggiante vs M. Durdyev

White to move.

22-18 here is enough for draw, but Maksat Durdyev played 28-24? and after 6-9 trade all his white pieces get trapped !

#7. Rd3, G2. M. Durdyev vs A. Scaggiante.

Red to move.

14-18 keeps game in progress but 7-10? as played in the game leads to immediate disaster: 27-23, 3-7, 23x16, 12x19, 26-23 etc WW

#8. Rd.4, G1. A. Scaggiante vs G. Bruno

Red to move and win.

I think earlier 22-17 instead correct 29-25 was a losing move. But here (see diagram) future world youth champion was confused for second. 15x24 jump should win the game, but after 10x17 as played in the game Gennaro handled it correctly and was awarded by draw.

#9. Rd.5, G1. G. Bruno vs M. Durdyev
Image
White to move and draw.

Red had several wins in the past including 8-11 instead 15-18?. But in position on diagram white had a sporadic chance to survive by playing 32-27 (instead losing 24-19? in the game).

#10. Rd.5, G1. G. Gochakov vs A. Scaggiento
Image
Red to move.

11-16 is OK here though white still have some edge after, 30-25. But 7-10? as played in the game loses and after then champion handled it properly.

#11. Rd5, G2. M. Durdyev vs G. Bruno
Image
White to move and draw.

31-26 seems to be OK but 30-25?? as played in the game loses immediately.

#12. Rd.6, 2. M. Durdyev vs A. Scaggiante.

Red to move and win.

6-9 wins but red played 10-15? and draw eventally was agreed.
I am playing checkers, not chess.
