What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.

i think somewhere (cannot be bothered looking) someone (from memory i think it was Gary )mentioned Lennox Lewis was a chess aficionado ... he wouldnt need to know much chess ... he would just knock them out and win :)

Jack Dempsey was a boxer who held the World Heavyweight Championship from 1919 to 1926.
He was also a checkerist who wrote the introduction to Learn Checkers Fast by Tom Wiswell.

you know what gets me frustrated?.... if a "sport" like chess-boxing can get Jaggermeister, powerade and a few others.... why can't we>????

Danny, Thats the way its always been from the start. Chess gets the fame on tv and on most things that has to result in stradegy. Ever hear the saying ( this is becoming a chess match). Try going to a book store and getting a checkers book besides the person saying back to you do you mean chess? You find out there is not one book but 50 books of Chess. Billy
