Interesting proposal Dennis. But having being involved in the construction industry all of my working life, I would deem it would be too costly an undertaking to enlarge all the door openings to enable Alex Moiseyevs' head to gain access without too much discomfort. A bit like the camel and the eye of a needle!?

What do you like about checkers?: It is a game of beauty when played at a high level.

In my eyes, there are three major factors which contribute to become a champion.

1) Real level of play, skills, knowledges
2) Champion attitude: killer instinct
3) Luck
I also think patience needs to be in there. Can't really reach the top in anything in life without patience and the same is very true for checkers. It is a long jounrey to reach the top and most never make it.

Alex i have to disagree with you and i think crying and being a champion are not mutually exclusive.
Mr Kondlo showed PASSION which is a major component of any champion.
I have seen World Champions and great sportsmen cry when they have tasted defeat, there is absolutely no shame in that.
the most recent example i can think of is Roger Federer when he lost to Rafael Nadal earlier this year.

I don't think this is terribly off-topic, but i would like to ask that the WCDF reconsider having 3 representatives from the host country (i don't care who hosts) in future World Qualifying Matches ..... in my personal opinion, it would keep the whole qualifying process more neat, tidy, fair and transparent if that were the case.

I also wish Mr Kondlo the best and i hope he keeps his passion alive and burning.

Cheers

Joe, patience, respectness, sportsmanship is part of champion attitude ... along with killing instinct.

I would have to add here not only those attributes, but also financial support and mentoring, which you have had alex, but who many dont have. And im sure there are other fine champions who cant get to matches because of financial hardship. Its not all about talent.its who you know, not what you know a lot of the time.

Does anyone have the exact measurements on Alex head??.............i think it may have SHRUNK after Borghetti had him over the "BARREL" in their recent match EH?

I am completely unaware of any such things. All my domestic events - states and National events are non-profitable if we count overall annual expances. Some State event give me extra $50-$150, other - takes away $$$ from pocket. Last 2011 GAYP National 2nd prize $550 only barely closed my expances for hotel, gas and daily expances.

About World Title matches and International events. In 2008 I paid in full for my tieckets to Beijing, in 2007 organisers of Irish Open paid my expances. In total 50-50.

Thanks God there is still extremely small group of sponsors checkers events in USA. This is Richard Beckwith, Alan Millhone, Joe LaConti and Victor Niederhoffer . But they are not my "personal" mentors and just suppost checkers events. This year they greatly helped Lubabalo to make his trip to San Remo.

They covered GAYP matches King vs Kondlo in 2008, King vs Beckwith in 2010 and my matches in 2009 with King and 2011 with Borghetti.

I wish this group of real sponsors would be bigger however every day I pray that it is not smaller. And again - all of the above sponsors support checkers, not me.

In addition there are some American people who always contribute small amount of money starting from $5 up to $100. They do support me however I am sure they will do the same thing if we have other American Champions. They are just American patrios and checkers patriots.

If some day I decide to compete for GAYP title, it will be very costly financial decision for me where I don't have any support and have to travel to Europe on my own to play in QT.

Money are important indeed but not everything - you should have passion, skills and attitude to accomplish your passion. One passion is not enough.
