I was watching a re-run of a George Burns and Gracie Allen Show a couple of days ago and at the end they did their "Cousin Gallup Allen Routine". I've edited some parts out that I didn't think would interest readers.
Subject: George Burns & Gracie Allen Show, closing five minute vaudeville-type routine at the end of the show. (1/31/1960)
George:
Well, Gracie, which one of your relatives will we talk about tonight?
Gracie:
Well, how about my cousin, Gallop Allen, the poll taker?
George:
Gallop Allen, does he takes surveys?
Gracie:
Oh, yes, all kinds. On one survey, Gallop was supposed to find out what a man of 40 likes and dislikes, and he was sent out to interview 200 men of that age.
George:
And what does a man of 40 like and dislike?
Gracie:
Well, according to cousin Gallop's survey, he likes checkers, soft cereal, and doesn't care all that much about women...
George:
Hold it! That's what a man of 40 likes and dislikes?
Gracie:
Well, cousin Gallop thought he'd save time. Instead of interviewing 200 men who were 40, he interviewed 100 men who were 80.
