Online checkers library.

Jake, thank you for the Online Checkers Library! It contains many books that I have not seen anywhere else on the Internet, such as the original Drummond books starting in 1838, a Ben Bolland book, and the Willie Ryan books. In the pool checkers section the "Spanish Pool" books, one book by Hines and two volumes by Black and Waters, I have never seen before.The more recent American Pool Checkers books by Kaplin are also in the pool checkers section. I have never seen a pool checkers book on the Internet before. The library is well organized by checkers style and by author. The PDN games make the Online Checkers Library a multi-media center! The Online Checkers Library is a true library where checkerists can go to research the history of checkers as well as strategy and tactics from opening to ending.

I can add to George statement ... I don't read checkers books 25 hours a day and don't download very often and all 150 books. What is important for me - knowing that there is such place as checkers online library, where I can always go when I need it and find all information I need it. Mainly I need games and problems book and most (and best) of them are there.

Yes, this online library is truly awesome without any good analogy (to the best of my knowledge's) in Internet history.

Many books I scanned from my own library, others were scanned by volunteers once they believed this was a true non-profit project. Several authors sent in their works. The Library of Congress and Google books I discovered quite recently, normally it was players who sent their own scans of what they had or borrowed.

Ben Boland's book came yesterday, someone scanned the pages and asked me to put them together into a PDF.

P.S. I just noticed Alex' response. Someone put the same sentiment this way "I now travel to tournaments light, no need to carry a suitcase full of books, I can read any book from the hotel's room".
Articles and disputes often refer to pages in library books, no one can argue they had no access to that specific source.
I try to keep site navigation extremely simple, on links only, many readers are not quite comfortable with flashy things...

Just completed a couple of books, one of them by William Timothy Call "The Literature of Checkers" 1908 lists and describes 228 books and other publications printed since the first English book by William Payne in 1756. I think the OMOCH guys will be happy to distribute them on their Timeline.

Ok guys, this is it, the last touches made adding html animation on several books, so you can read the book and watch positions unfold at the same time. Great thanks to Bob Newell for sharing books PDNs on CheckerMaven. Checkers room took many months to build and a lot of dogged tenacity, time to step back and relax, let others discover and enjoy.

With Jim Loy's recent additions the number of World Title Matches jumped to 70.
I really did not mean to animate so many matches, the idea was to animate games and positions from books, so that one can read the book and move checkers on the screen at the same time. Are there any volunteers that can record the moves from the books and send in PDN?

I also need to correct my recent statement about 160 books - after some adjustments the Straight Checkers room has 140 books.
There are also many ACF Bulletins.

I tried the Hathi Trust books, you need to be a partner to download a full PDF, displaying and copying one page at the time is too time consuming, maybe someone out there is willing to collect the pages and send me the complete book?

Thanks to the European players from England, Italy and Spain the library is back over 150 books.

To the book and magazine authors and publishers - the online library is basically an archive of checkers literature, a central place to browse books, research, or make references. Having your books or magazines in the library ensures their continue to live well after the sales are done. Alex Moiseyev already volunteered to place his monumental book "Sixth" in the library upon him selling remaining copies. Many Russian writers do the same, enjoying showing their creations to friends and proud to have them on the same shelf with other famous masterpieces. Authors of course can present their works in the best possible way - not the unflexible scans but the original PDF with its perfect fonts and pictures, easy to search and quote. Question - Anderson 2nd in the library contains the name of John Paterson. Was he the author of the book? I found both Anderson and Paterson names in other places on internet, I just do not know what is right
