What a shock. I just talked to him yesterday,he was a great player,and I know he was battling with his illness,but I didn't know he was that close to death.My condolences for his family.Im so dreadfully sorry, jan mortimer

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Purple “Bill” from California whom I played many games with at Goldtoken and IYT. Not only a gifted player but a great gentleman who will be sorely missed at the said sites. RIP.

Just heard that Bill "Purple" had a massive heart attack. Dama1, who plays at Goldtoken, 'phoned Bill's wife Jenny and she imparted the sad news.
