It is a step in the right direction Alex, sort of.

I think the ACF needs to get rid of districts completely, there's not enough players to separate them by region anymore LOL

Some day there will be enough players to fill out. I remember I played in Northern States event, last time in 2004. Our goal today is - to recover these golden years This not step back, but step forward into 21st century. Somehow we are still; in 20 century and have a free fall.

Young people like you, Joe, John, Michael and many others have to work together. Without unity and integrity there is no future.

Most important thing in integrity - tolerance and listening other people.

Who will be Internet district manager? I would say Chee, but he is currently in retirement. Any suggestions?

Chee is interesting :D but not the best candidacy for this post. he is more distractive person rather then constructive. In addition, ACF ruined relations with him as well as with many other good people. Eric can be a good candidate for Internet District Manager ... there are other people.

Idea #2 - State Cup. Sort of State Team National Championship. I discussed this some years ago with Richard and recently with Alex Holmes (previous year) - but this idea never been materialized.

Idea #3. Create and support AXF Expert, Masters and Grandmasters lists based on rating and performance, print and distribute id's. I spoke with Alan about this idea and in general he supported it but still ... nothing had been done.

Idea #4. Re-appoint ACF Public Relation officer and setup new requirements for this position. I will post more about this a bit later.

Joe, do you want to extend this list with your promotional ideas ? If so - send me email.

When you look back at the ACF magazines, you could see high professionalism - games recorded (before computers), organization structure, confidence in the future, respect and absolutely no suspicions.
Locally I played many tournaments in Los Angeles, and again - organization was flawless, money matters spelled out, each letter containing complete account of collected dues and expenditures.

What I am trying to say is that those who took upon themselves to lead the community put a lot of effort and skill, they were not after titles, they accepted the responsibility to keep the high level left by their predecessors.

Finally where did all the money in the 200 Club go? Where did the $17,000 in the Oldbury Fund go????

above is the Main question I would have for John. Somebody is responsible and that needs to come out on this forum! He was treasurer and should easily have answer to the above queston. If not....then that raises big question.

Whoever is elected pres. MUST embrace internet checkers OR ACF is dead. Period and end of conversation.

ALex, Quit asking people to email you privetaly, Post it here on this forum and Lest start being open and transparent!

One thing in Alex favor - he can engage others into a conversation, that is rare and valuable.

Email is not too bad 21st century technology :D Some ideas come from emails.

Idea #5. ACF website. A lot of things can be done for improvement. Maybe we should "split" responsibility - one "technical" person like Jason will do IT stuff: software support and development, and another person do "business" support things.

Idea #6. Restore relations between ACF and local state organizations. Today in some cases some states are very much independent and standalone.

Extend Idea #3. Improve Rating processing. Joe told me that new rating is on the way. If it's accurate and easy, it can be use for titles along with norms and performance. Some titles can be given retrospectively for accomplishments in the past.

Idea #7. For Youths: I have a dream - one day to organize ACF National Scholastic Ty! Today we have standalone, not well united people like Michael in KY, Kim in MO and few other, who does wonderful job with kids in schools, but they are not very well united. This is something which needs to be done - coordinate efforts. Having kids even from just 2 areas (as more as better) allow us to organize first National Scholastic event.

More later. John told me that he is preparing now response to Jan which will be posted in his topic, hopefully today.

From other email ...

Idea #8. ACF should recognize people on regular day-to-day base. It could be anyone - players and not players, ACF ,members and not ACF members, organizers, collectors, kids, journalist, investors ... anyone who did something valuable for ACF. These people can be recognize in many ways - ACF website, newspaper articles, certificates etc.

This is just my opinion, but I will throw in my "two cents" worth here. It appears to me that the main goal of every ACF member is to squabble and argue and belittle every other ACF member. Most of the people I have met at checker tournaments seem respectful and courteous, yet when people get on this site they want to tear each other apart. I value John Acker as a friend and I value Eric Strange as a friend, yet these two gentlemen seem to want to tear each other apart. Alan Milhone I consider a friend as I do Alex M. yet they seem to have gotten far apart over checkers Is the game that important that it should destroy friendships?
I hope to play at Branson this year and maybe a couple of other tournaments. Do I have come armed, ready to shoot anybody who disagrees with me? I hope not. It looks lie the ACF is headed toward a split similar to the checker split of the 1940s, I hope not. Mike Holmes has done considerable for checkers and I have never found him disrespectful! Young Alex H. is a fine young master player, a credit to our game, trained well by his father who I also see as a promoter of our beloved game. Can we all get along or must every disagreement end in hate?

Not at all! I disagree with Alan on number of things, but it doesn't cause our relations as humans.

But I agree with your point, Neil. Attitude is important. I don't really know what to do to improve this. Any ideas ?

Idea #1 on my list things to do - listen people. I can't say - I am ideal, perfect listener, but I am learning.

My relations with Michael Holmes today are far from perfect, but I believe some day this also will be fixed.

I'm sure the webmaster or moderators could update the links page. The address of the webmaster is given as:

webmaster@usacheckers.com

The ACF Webmaster is Jason Solan.
