To all checker players,
As everyone knows some players do not have someone to play checkers with. But I think I have found a solution. I have been playing checkers with our Amish community threw a conference line. This is by telephone. I have played many from all over the USA. It helps to study lines and just play someone. I could set this line up and with no limits to how many could connect. Would love to hear if this would be something others would enjoy and want to use.

hi tgf,
Thank you for asking, The process is easy. I would setup a conference line which anyone wanting to play by phone would ask permission. Then you would receive a pass code. You then would dial in and place the code in and you would be connected. Not much to it very easy. We would have a evening or whenever time set for game play. This also could be a line to enjoy each others chat about checkers. I have seen many fights and arguments on game sites this would not happen on this conference line so I think it would be a wonderful way to communicate with others.

I still do not understand, how do you play over the conference call? What is special about the conference call? Are you just telling each other the moves, or you can see the board on one of your computers?

hi tgf.
ok this is how it works. When on the conference call you could play anyone on that line, You would setup your board and when beginning play call off the moves to each other. As you r playing others can also follow your game. I play the Amish and we all play then after we analyze the game which was played. We always write our moves down this seems to me a learning tool as well.

The difference is there is no limit of players that can be on this line, plus we can make multiple lines so everyone can play at once. This is how it is different. You could connect and play the irish from Ireland, Germany, etc etc

Re: A new way to connect and play
My African students invited me to teach on WhatsApp - a free over the cell phone messenger application.
There are over 50 players in this group, all can talk at the same time, send pictures, diagrams and recorded voice messages, even videos.
You are always connected via your cell phone, do not need to be at any specific place.
I also run the same type of group for my Jamaican students since in their game the board is flipped to dark corner on the right side.
