Checker Ignorance
Ever watch any of the old TV westerns? Was watching the other day and Kitty walked up and helped Doc beat Festus. She picked up a man and jumped six pieces. Was watching Jack Nicholson play someone the other day and the board was turned the wrong way. The single corner was on the right. One of the funniest was when Jack Elam, the bad guy, was asked by someone to name three simple kid's game. He said hop scotch, tic-tac-toe and Checkers. This is so typical of those who know nothing about the game.

Re: Checker Ignorance
Checkers was also found on the old radio shows. It was usually two hillbillies or two simpletons playing. For instance checkers was played often on the "Lum 'n Abner" show, at the "Jot 'em Down" general store. It isn't hard to guess that checkers was not presented as a challenging and deep game.
