I am unable to find any information about him online, so I thought this might be a good place to ask. He must have been from Scotland, and I'm assuming he was a good player himself. I'm not sure when "The Scottish School of Draughts" was issued, either, although I understand it was a very limited edition.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Re: Who was Norrie Reid?
There was a recent article published by Donald Oliphant, (editor) in "Draughts and Checkers Newsletter" Issue 5, July 2018.
A copy of the text is shown below:
New Books
Norrie Reid from Glasgow has had his second edition of "The Scottish School of Draughts
1820-1930" printed in limited numbers. Norrie travelled to Inverness during the British
Open earlier this year and draught players were eager to buy copies of this book which
details all the Scottish players who were important to the game of draughts through this
time. Norrie has produced an excellent book with many photos, sketches, newspaper
articles and birth certificates etc. Norrie has also taken time to put into print the games
from the Richard Jordon versus Robert Stewart "East of Scotland Championship and £50"
match games from 1893 which he believes have never been published in their entirety
before. I show photographs of both books below and if anybody would like a copy then
please contact me and I will pass your details to Norrie.

Re: Who was Norrie Reid?
Thanks once again, Liam. So the book came out much more recently than I thought. And he's alive!
I wonder if the families of Richard Jordan, James Ferrie, Robert Stewart, et al., kept any of their documents or trophies. I've seen the fascinating Henry Shearer and Alfred Jordan exhibits at the Online Museum, and it's nice to see that their descendants preserved those items.
Speaking of Robert Stewart, I posted a link in another part of the forum to some pictures of him in action in April, 1926.

Re: Who was Norrie Reid?
I met him in Glasgow years ago and we toured various gravesites and other checkers-related places. A real gentleman.
