New downloads

Aloha!

There are two new downloads on my checkers website: An improved opening book for Cake, and the 7-piece endgame database.

The 8-piece database will follow, but I have to put up the downloads one by one to make sure I'm not going to exceed my bandwidth limitations.

Checkerboard crashes whenever it's about to use the 7pc DB.

Also, if I set up the board with 4 kings vs 3 kings - the value=0 and the side with 4 kings tries to pitch 1 piece as soon as it can to make it a 3k vs 3k game.


Update: CB also crashes when it's about to enter the 4man vs 4man DB.

Unfortunately it's true, CB crashes with the 7-piece database if the 5- and 6-piece database are not present. I'll have to add a warning to only use the 7pc db if the 5- and 6-piece databases have been generated.

I go to the Database menu on Checkerboard to build the 6pc DB. A window opens for a moment to, what it seems. would be used to build the DB - but he closes in less than a second. Does this mean anything?

Also, on the bottom on CB, it says "There is enough free disk space (about 81672 MB) - building database..." Does this mean it's building the database without any secondary installation window?

Yes, that means it isn't working!

No, you should have a console window where it's telling you what it's doing. I guess I will just also make the 5- and 6-piece db available for download in the next days. Thanks for reporting the error!
