Get the eACFB (electronic ACFB) right away, at http://www.usacheckers.com/acfb/acfb328.pdf . It requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can get at http://www.adobe-acrobat.org/default.asp?aff=3.

Late August ACF Bulletin

Post by Alan Millhone »

Dear ACF Members:

I take the blame for making the August issue late. I told Mr. Loy to hold the issue till after the Nationals and Youth Tournament so that results from both could be included and have the news current in this issue and members would not have to wait two months til lthe next issue. I 'proofed' the August issue the other day and it is outstanding !

Due to an email addressing snafu, the printer never got the above version of the ACFB. And so, the bottom three places of the Majors and Minors of the GAYP Nat. were not listed. Sorry about that. The entire prize list, with first names and money won, will be shown in the October ACFB.

Also, I see that on page ii (inside front cover), the first news item says "See page 7," That should be page 6.

I learned a long time ago that errors are inevitable. All a person can do is keep the number of errors down to a low level, and not get too upset when they do occur. The same applies to our checker games. If your aim is perfection, then you will be disappointed. It's easy to give up when your opponent points out your error by making the move you didn't foresee.

i think trying to include our national results in our issue a good reason
for it to be late

maybe we should just see this as something to expect in the future when
the tournament and issue are close together?

ACFB and current National results

Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Patrick:

I asked Mr. Loy to hold up the issue so he could include results from Vegas rather than have the results as 'old news' in the next issue two months from now.

Our printer called me today and the issue will go out tomorrow via bulk mail. I personally send out the overseas members issues.

What do you like about checkers?: I love strategy games and checkers fits the bill for a great strategy game, that requires logic and problem solving skills.

i've been trying for a long time to get them to offer an electronic only option for those who would be interested in it...

it would save a great deal of printing and mailing fees for each individual that wants the electronic only option

i fail to see the logic for not doing so: save money and members are happy at the same time
