I don't know any proven benefits 
I want to be a teacher in the future. I plan on placing a time for playing checkers into the teaching plans. I think that checkers is very good for the mind. Practicing patience and visualization are very good things to do to help you with controlling your life. Some players just move the pieces without a purpose; this can still be a way to have fun maybe, but it is likely something a person will become bored of. Having a purpose for the things you do yields energy

Checkers if a great "life hobby". Some people do fishing, other - hunting, I play checkers 
- nothing wrong with this ! Another great benefit of playing checkers - have new friends, raise number of friends and relations, enjoy communicate with people.
