Tournament, he finished in second place that year and then returned in 2005 to win the tournament. We missed having Gene here the past two
tournaments, understandably so and largely due to his involvement in organizing the Tennessee State GAYP Tournament which is played in Morristown
Tennessee the preceding weekend to our tournament . Gene was an outstanding player and shared his love of the game by working to promote
it to others. Checkers and we who play the game have suffered a great loss and Gene will certainly be missed.
Alan, I'm reminded of Matthew 5:23, "if ... you remember your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the alter and go at
once to make peace with him; then come back and offer your gift to God." At this time it is especially good to know that things were recently put right
between you and Gene. It's a sad thing that it was largely if not totally due to a misunderstanding.
Here's a picture I took of you and Gene playing a game during the 2004 6th District/Indiana State Tourney.
