Re: Poll: Game vs. Rounds Scoring at Nats
Checkers is a game of skill! The more one reads, studies, and plays cautiously the better he becomes. Pattern analysis is important. Thus, I feel the more games that are allowed in a national tournament the fairer it will be. That is why I voted for game scoring rather than match scoring. People who come from a distance to play in a national tournament are there to engage in checker games. At least that is why I go. I do not go because I am a good player, I go because of a love for the game. I try hard to win, but I know most of the players that I play are much, much better than I am so that if I can get a draw or two at least I show a little progress. If the Master Class or the Major Class want to play with match scoring that is fine. However, I feel that the Minor Class should be conducted using game scoring of 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw and all games should be completed. The last two or three national tournaments that I played in used game point scoring and I liked it and felt it was an encouragement to continue playing. Respectfully, Neil H. Wenberg
