Since you asked :-) The " A " Class at this past week-end's tournament requires ACF Membership to play in the Masters. Dr. Beckwith and Kim Willis and myself have received several emails and the three of us as ACF Executive Officers are engaged in discussion . All I can offer for now..............................................

Alan Millhone, President
American Checker Federation
Greetings Alan,
Hope all has been well.....
One thing which I hope you and the rest of the EC strongly consider during your discussions......
If the allaged conduct at Illinois is indeed true and accurate, and there are no consequences,......
this goes the whole nine yards towards perpetuating the myth (if it is a myth ??!!??) that the ACF, and organized Checkers in America (in general) are nothing more than a "good old boys" club.
How could we ever hope to attract the youth of our country to this game with such a stigma attached to it...? Corruption from within has destroyed many an empire............

Regards,

Jay "Loyal to the game" H

Ok.........My opinion.
You are wrong. I, myself, am an ACF member.
Whether I attended the Illinois tourney or not, this membership entitles me to "say anything about who did what, or who said what..." on such issues as pertaining to ACF and its affiliates.
You, if you so choose, have the right to ignore my opinion and/or anything I say about "who did what, or who said what..." but you have NO right to tell me or anyone that they "should not have anything to say about who did what, or who said what....".

If you don`t like it........ stay home.. Illonis ty is over, finished, so deal with it.
What a statement...........If I wasn't reading it myself, I would not believe that someone would post it. All I can say is.....wow.....

Finally, if the day ever comes when ACF representation (the EC) "should not even take time to look at this" or ANY issues being presented to them by rank and file membership, that is the day I will rescind my membership.....

bugs wrote:Ok Jay, Another one... You seem to be the one to yell the loudest on every subject... If you have a problem with me, thats fine by me.... You do have an opinion, whether good or bad.
Yes they do have to take a look at some things, one being silly statements both you and I made.
All I am saying is......... Doesn`t matter what goes on at any given tourney someone always whines about it... In any suitation there is good and bad things happen.. Learn and grow from those.
You do not have to rescind nothing... You can say and do anything you wish... I personally don`t like whiney, blah, blah mouthed people... Maybe I am one myself but I stand way behind you and some others on this forum..
God bless you and have a great week end....Love the way you hide behind those wine colored glasses.... TA TA

Nobody likes to lose, but to have a winner.. someone has to....... I do more than any..

Bugs,
I have no problem with you.
We should be rolling out the red carpet to newcomers to the ACF....not treating them with disrespect....certainly not telling them to "deal with it" and to "stay home if they don't like it"......
I wonder...let's say we replace Nick with Alex Holmes.
1) Would this scam have even been attempted ?
2) Would anyone be telling Alex to suck it up, shit happens and you'll getem' next time, when he bought it to the attention of the membership and the ACF EC ?

Please note that I did not stoop to insults, as you have.

Easy ... "Repair pairing" in last round should have 1st priority - State Champion Title, and 2nd priority - overall outcome. If this rule would be in place, Nick shall play in last round with Gene or Gary even though Frank Davis was closer to him with points.

They definetely should have this rule in IL next year. This will prevent much better any uncerataincy. Other states indeed also should have this rule.

bugs wrote:Ok........ My opinion... first, if you did not attend the Illonis TY. You should not have anything to say about who did what, or who said what.... Running a Ty is not that easy, especially when you are playing and having to get others to hurry up and play a timed game.... Plus all the other things that you have to do.... So why don`t everybody get off your cry wagon, suck it up, and keep your nose out of other people`s business...
There were many player, who on the last match, chose to take a draw because of time and so many miles they had to travel to get home.. Some people choose to take 20 minutes to make a have-to jump just to pussy-foot around playing.. It is a game for them to destract their opponent..
In my opinion, this is a rude and disrepectful to all the other players... The Ellisons did a great job.
Why can they not choose to do the same thing as so many others did????? Think about it...
The sport of checkers is fun.. why be rude and ill-mannered to others.. NOONE is the only checker player in the world.... Some may think they are.. BUT.. Be human, play nice, get a friend and be happy...Vonda
p.s.
If you don`t like it........ stay home.. Illonis ty is over, finished, so deal with it.. No officals should have to even take time to look at this. ALSO, I was listed as having 4 points.. WRONG...
But Thats ok with me... hahahahaha. I won`t go belly-acheing..
Checker's a sport ? please it's a fun game that i used to like playing every now an again at nightime online, but a sport ? studying books and sitting down all day at no sport, now boxing is a sport that i used to like and that was a proper sport that was really tough.

I think people take this game way too seriously, like most people took Chee's ranking of me being one of the top players seriously LOL.

Checker's is a nice little hobby to keep the brain working, but a sport it will never ever be. Just like i don't considering Chess or any board game a sport. But obviously you have to be somewhat clever and be good with patterns.
