Today, physically i feel like a mess.... i have a bad bout of influenza .... but i was lucky to wake up and enjoy most of game 7 + all of game 8...

To be able to chat with some of the people here from the forum like Clayton Nash, Mac Banks, John Acker of course, Ingo Zachos, etc etc) while watching the game was absolutely priceless... (maybe we could get mastercard to sponsor us LOL)

thanks to everyone involved. and thanks for the great time, i can honestly say i even enjoyed Ingo dissing Messi and The Godfather ROFL

cheers
Danny
PS i await the 'yellow elephant' interview Doctor Acker, with baited breath..... for the record Elephants are baritones.... my daughter reminds me that when i read her bedtime stories, so maybe Alan could be the Elephants voice.

I cant believe i fell asleep on game 11..... these two were crucial games because of the technical difficulty of the opening.

Just a quick analysis.............

Miki seems ill prepared for the NEW openings and Alex is well studied in these this past 4 yrs since the Irish Open of 2007 when he bought my 1st edition of Cannings Comp in Buncrana.Since then, getting the 2nd edition also.

913 2318 1116 The Wilderness 2.................Miki effectively going into "what known is the 811 loss " when he played 1620?. Altho Alex gave him a chance by playing 3025 later ,when 3227 is the KILLER.

After the said 3025.............

Moiseyev again gives Borgetti another out by playing 2217? Then Micki blunders and game over!

Game 12
Michele Borghetti Alex Moiseyev

1. 9-13 23-18
2. 11-16 18-14
3. 10x17 21x14
4. 6-9 22-18
5. 1-6 25-21
6. 16-20 24-19
7. 8-11 29-25
8. 4-8 27-23
9. 11-16 25-22
10. 6-10 30-25??. aLLOWS THE DRAW 3227 WINS
11. 10x17 21x14
12. 2-6 25-21
13. 6-10 22-17..DRAWS.......2117** WINS PRIOR KNOWLEDGE NEEDED.
14. 13x22 26x17
15. 9-13 18-15
16. 13x22 15x6
17. 22-25 6-2
18. 25-30 ........AND THE BLUNDER!!
2x11x4
19. Resign!

Also in the last game [wed]that Micki won 913 2218 1216

As in Game 2 before Moiseyev again plays a very poor 1317 ............that shoulda lost in GAME 2, AND LOOKS LIKE THE LOSER HERE.

iS IT RIGHT TO SAY.......................GAME ON?? Moiseyev s superior knowledge of the NEW OPENINGS VERSUS BORGHETTI S SUPERIOR CROSS-BOARD.??

Tommy,I honestly thought Miki's best option of causing an upset here was to study the new openings and find a way to pull a few wins out of the weak sides (obviously as well as winning the strong ones) .... it seems that that is not the case and the new openings are favouring the champ who was better prepared to handle them.
Perhaps with 24 games left i am calling it too early but it seems the lead is slowly becoming insurmountable 3-1 is perhaps doable.... 4-1 you would have to say it's game over.

Either way this has been an exciting match so far and good luck to both of them.
cheers
Danny
PS this stuff of falling asleep late at night watching first class checkers is becoming addictive.... alas tomorrow , flu or not i'm back to work. Ill try to catch a few games on the weekend.

One would have suspected the outcome long before it started,if one was being in a reasonable state of mind.Still miracles do happen ,but im afraid not this time.

Tommy, I have to agree with you on 11-man ballot! Just because I'm from Michigan, it does not mean I like the system designed by one of my heroes, Newell W. Banks of Detroit, Michigan. I also do not like the 'flying checkers" of Russian/Brazilian Draughts 64. That is where one checker from each side is picked up and placed on an empty square for the starting position of the game. I like GAYP best, but I am well aware of Wyllie vs. Martins 1863 where the same exact moves were played on 21 out of 40 games! With 3-move, the games may be replayed "as if" they were GAYP. That to me is an important distinction in any opening restriction. IMHO, you are right Tommy! --George Hay

JohnAcker, thank you for the updates, and for not forgetting the ACF forum!

The consensus opinion of experts indicates that the best opening move for Black is 11-15,
regardless of White's reply, the best starting move for White is the counterpart 22-18, no
matter which of the seven initial moves Black selects.

Miki has great emotional support of his Italian friends and media, I have support mainly from my Russian friends on their sites where they also analysed intensively and deeply games.

I had several private emails from my American supporters.

American Checkers Federation forum keeps a neutral, silent position. It seems like people feel uncomfortable to say anything good and wish good luck to American champion. I also don't see any serious analyses here, only bla-bla-bla.

Anyway, today I am at home in Cleveland with my family, all other members of match team should have a visit to REAL Italian restaurant in Cleveland which I missed. Tomorrow we resume our play in Cleveland Public Library Auditorium.

Yours,
