4 months is OK and even 12 months is fine with me, because we don't have too many events.

If you do it semi-annually, publishing ratings in Fbruary and August issues, this also would work.

Thanks for clarification.

Ratings for 2010 are complete! Me and Eric will complete the finishing touches and give them to Jason very soon!

Here are just a few things I will note regarding the ratings I did just so everyone is aware. All international matches recorded were included as well as its players. No pool checkers, 10x10, or Internet checkers tournaments were included. 11 man ballot is acceptable and will actually be the next tournament I do. I strongly urge tournament directors/scorekeepers to please record accurate information and points in the cross-tables. Some of the cross-tables had and error or 2 regarding total points per round. Thanks to all the scorekeepers that did record accurately. So that is about it, if anyone has any questions or concerns feel free to ask.

Many thanks to Eric who initiated the process of recovering ACF ratings and Joe who picked up the ball. Great job guys !

Properly, accurately and timely publishing rating list is one of the most important and encouraging component of competitive checkers and any other kind of sport.

Since i am a migrant and a non-native english speaker myself, i know improving english, whether it be, grammar, spelling or syntax is an everlasting quest....kind of like checkers....

you make gradual improvements, then hit plateaus, maybe even slip back into bad habits before you can make improvements again.

I personally never had a problem understanding Mr Moiseyev, i have a problem with the latent passive aggresiveness in some of his posts, not the grammar or lack of it.

Learning english or any other language is not easy, Tommy

cheers

Tommy

As a friend, may I suggest that you refrain from making suppositions. Your continuous agressive bleating based on quicksand and thin air is doing your superstar image no good :D

PS I am still waiting for your fantastic books, I'll send you the money when I get them

Merry christmas to you my friend and to all who read this post and those who don't

After looking at numbers on new updated rating list, I can confirm that taking 3 years as cutoff date make alot of sense. Eventually, after 12-24 months list will be completely up to date.

I am not disappointed with fact that my rating dropped, because being familiar very well with ELO system in the past, I expected this.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this tremendous unit of work and helped to recover ACF ratings. I anticipate now to see a final and official version of list in ACFB February issue.

Getting back to the subject of the Ratings.
I have long believed the ELO system to be unsound and this topsy turvy ACF list only confirms my belief.
What a travesty ! - LOL.

Be thankful you used the word "unsound", using "unscientific" on a slip will land you in hot water hehehe.

I am satisfied with my rating, some rating systems rate my play too high. Those who have played me in tournaments know that most of the tyme I am rated too high. Joe Moore JR has done a fine job of setting this sytem up and needs to be commended for his effort.
