The websites you gave Irma, on travelling to Turkmenisten,doesnt actually inspire confidence in travelling to the area.Of course i perused all this months ago,and the WCDF should have also done their homework before accepting such a bid.Against my better judgement i accepted to go Balkanabet. My husband also agreed to go at this time. It was not my fault i couldnt get a date.We did our utmost to do so from the Dudeyovs.At the time,i had confidence that the executive would set the standard and start organizing it.Instead it was left up in the air.

I also read that USA Embassy fact sheet on Turkmenistan.

Well, if you read it, you will see it paints a rather dismal picture of that country.
All the rigmarole involved in dealing with currency, lack of ATMs, and the various police restrictions and bureaucracy. The transit service through the airport seems an absolute nightmare. Certainly one would not wish to see one's wife, for example, stranded there on a cold night. (Unless one was Basil Fawlty, that is.)

This is not just some hack internet site, but an official US Govenment agency web page.

I believe much more strenuous efforts should have been made by those responsible to have had the match held at a neutral venue.

All these safety considerations about Turkmenistan are important, but were raised a long time ago and were considered. While I have never personally been to Turkmenistan, the WCDF did consult with Walter van Beek who has been there and assured us that he did not personally find significant travel difficulties. There is inherent risk traveling to any country, including my own country. Another thing to think about is whether the Turkmenistan government would ever want to bend over backwards (beyond the minimal invitation that was put forward) to the checker community to invite someone to their country when this public forum is used as a means to publicly insult their homeland.

I don't laugh, because in Russian language any name misspeling is very painful and always considered as some sort of disrespect. This is not fun at all. Most insulting thing for Russians - not having a first letter of first/last name in capital.

Again, thanks for giving me a chance to fix it. If you see any other typos in my future posts, please, let me know immediately. Usually I am extremely careful with names and never repeat the same mistake twice. In case of Eric first name it was a typo, not an error.
