A Checker player's paradise
GoldToken is in the process of becoming a Checker player's paradise, it seems, with all the variants that will be available.

Re: It's Your Turn
And wouldn't it be awesome if GoldToken became a Checker player's paradise!!
Is it a tournament style? Can you please explain what an "11 man ballot" is and how we can install this as a game feature. Is there a link you can share with me that explains it? I googled and only found references to tournaments like this below:
If it would make Checker players drool, and can be done, we will definately put it up!
Italian Checkers is now completed and available for testing on GoldToken's beta site. Our checker programmer is deeply interested in seeing these variations work properly. So please, if you have the time, do come help us test them.

http://www.jimloy.com/acf/ACFB00.html Marion Tinsley played one match involving GAYP, a forty game mixed event with Professor W. R. Fraser. Ten games were played on each of the GAYP, Two-Move, Three-Move, and Eleven Man Ballot styles. (The games may be found in Fraser's Inferno.)

Dear Mary !
Obviously 11 man ballot is very interesting and most exciting form of game and is recognised and highly respected by checkers fraternity. There is a World Title, which recently became vacant after reigning World Champion, Elbert Lowder from North Carolina, passed away two months ago.
I played few years ago match with him and we ended up with even score: 6-6-8. Here are the rules to start game:
Each player use a cards to remove one man from row #2 or row #3 (row #1 is untouchable) After than players pick 2 man ballot opening - one move for each opponennt.
If we picked the move for the man which is already removed, then we should move another man in the same directions.
For instance: if you removed man on 11 and picked move 11-15 then you have to move 8-11, if you removed man on 11 and picked move 11-16, then you have to move 7-11. And if you removed man on 12 and picked move 12-16, then you have to move 8-12.
There are 3,136 openings (49x64) generated by this system, but some of them are repeatable. Number of unique openings - 2,500. There are also rumors that about 300 oif them are losses, but noone knows for sure, because noone ever study this seriously, and no published play available.
Mary, please, let me know when this feature will be installed (VOG failed to do this) and I'll be glad to visit your site.
Sincerely,

Alex , I would be most happy to see this installed at GoldToken. I will give what you have written to my programmer to look over. If I have any questions, will message you directly.

OK, Mary ! Pass my personal salute to programmers and tell them that if they will be able to do this - they will be first pioneers. VOG promised to do this one time, but dfailed.
=========================
I want to correct myself, The move which we pick for each side is not from 2-move deck, it is from 1-move deck !
So, for white (and red) there might be 7 choices.
Red: 9-13, 9-14, 10-14, 10-15, 11-15, 11-16, 12-16
White: 21-17, 22-17, 22-18, 23-18, 23-19, 24-19, 24-20

Re: It's Your Turn
Nice bear Alex! Much cleaner than the pig.
Honestly...while it seems relatively complicated, 11 Man Ballot shouldn't be impossible. GoldToken's programmers love a good challenge! If they are not able to do it, then it can't be done.
For the moment, we are going to complete testing on the current new checker games, and a couple other games that are already in production. But once finished, I am anticipating we will have 11 Man Ballot and Turkish Checkers both in our beta for testing by mid March. You are welcome to come help us finish testing so we can get started on these two just that much sooner!
Are you going to play for the 11 man ballot World Title? What fun to have played a World Champion! It would surely do him an honor if you won it!

Mary, nothing to appologise for !
Yes, I am a World Champion, but only for the 3-move restriction World Title. Ron King from Barbados is reigning GAYP World Champion, and as I said - 11 man ballott World Title is currently vacant.
So, if I will fight for 11 man ballot - I will be in the role of Challenger ... as well as my opponent (s).
To anyone who concerns:
I don't have any intention to claim vacant title, but will be glad to get it in real fight - match or tournament.
Sincerely,
Alex Moiseyev

Re: It's Your Turn
One thing I am not sure Alex realizes is that Gold Token is turn-based. Now, this is the mode that I prefer. VOG, I have heard, offers live play, which I do not like for a variety of reasons (among them because my connection is often dropped). Correct me if I am wrong, Alex, but I believe you have a decided preference for live play.
By the way, Gold Token prohibits the use of programs and says so in no uncertain terms. Turn-based game sites vary from expressly allowing them (some chess sites) to expressly forbidding them. I have mixed feelings on the matter (I think computer assisted play can be interesting when agreed upon) but abide by the express rules of the site. The problem is that some sites do not address the issue and different players have different notions of what is fair.

I am where you are !
Pedro,
currently I am playing draughts on Kurnik site and am quite satisfy with this. However I'll be glad to visit Gold Token, especially if they have 11-man ballott room. Anyway - I am glad to be at any place where I can find a good opponents. When everyone moved out of VOG - I did the same thing. So - I am where you are !
If I can't help checkers to make more money, maybe my destination is - just recruite more people, and ... who knows, some day they'll make a good money
All these kids on Kurnik like to see my games and I feel comfortable with them ... sometimes more comfortable than among adults
New generation on Kurnik is very close to start playing in real events. If this happened some day (I anticipate - this year) - my two cents will be there.

Re: It's Your Turn
Alex plays in kurnik under nickname "rusms". Anyone who says Masters can't play speed games, Alex's play in kurnik is evidence against it - for he has one of the top 5 highest active ratings.

This link goes directly to Alex's kurnik games. I hope Alex doesn't mind me posting the link - the games are made public anyways.

I don't mind. Usually when I play games, the room collects 15-20 people watching. Recently I sold 3 copies of Sixth to Kurnik players and hope to make more. If someone wants to study seriously my games, they can watch them or buy my book ... or sometimes just ask a questions.
Sincerely,
Alex
Re: It's Your Turn
I'll ask a question then.
1. 11-15 23-19 2. 8-11 22-17 3. 4-8 25-22 4. 9-13 26-23 5. 15-18 23x14
Is this move 5. 15-18 considered draw and has it been played in any live tournament games?
