10 PM - no news. They may have a closing ceremony, dinner, both ... or still playing ! If they are still playing simply means that someone has serious advantage in ending.

Just approximately extra $500JohnAcker wrote:a draw would do him no good.
Remember, with drawn match they divide prize money evenly, 50-50. Don't forget also about rating (ha-ha) and such miserable thing as self respect and self confidence.
Drawn match is 1000 times better then losing match, no doubts.
However ... with all wishes in my heart I hope you are right and Richard is pushing.

Congratulations to Suki with retain his title.
No congratulations indeed to Richard - I know he can do this better and I know that he will do it better in the very nearest future.
He already reached the level when he can be congratulated with one thing only - victory.
Hmmm ... there is something where Richard still can be congratulated: in this match Ron King lost his first GAYP game since 2004 when he played in 1st International GAYP USA vs Barbados Match and lost one game.
Respectfully,

Congratulations to Ron King who once again has proven he is the best freestyle player in the world.
I am interested in knowing more about the last game, when did they finish? I stayed up past midnight, waiting for news of the result, before shutting down my computer. In the last game did Rich get into the loss by going for the win, throwing caution to the wind, giving it a do or die effort?
Richard put forth a great effort and made a very interesting match of it, great job Rich.
Thanks goes to Joseph LoConti and Alan Milhone.

Congratulations to Ron King, who is still the very well deserved World Champion.
A World Champion that is not afraid to play and prove his supremacy in many, many, many, tournaments all over the world.
Congratulations to Richard Beckwith as wll, as he won the QT at the IOW and proved in this match that it takes a real World Champion to beat him by a hair.
I guess this will not be his last , nor his best attempt to go for the title.
I can't wait to see the games, and will not speculate about the course of the 24th game.

Re: World Title Match : Medina,Ohio
The Match of 2010 was Ron "the Checkers" King vs Dr. Richard Beckwith. The three winning games (2 for King, 1 for Beckwith) are featured at http://www.checkerworld.com with instructive analysis by Al Lyman. Ron King defended his GAYP World Championship, and Rich Beckwith joins a distinguished list of challengers. I hope that the ACF and WCDF will always have a GAYP World Championship. --George Hay

George, Thanks for sharing this link. For anyone interested, I also put together a booklet -- $8 with US shipping included (plus any extra for international shipping) off all 24 games with annotations by myself and Jim Loy, including some diagrams and cover photo. One of these days, I hope to compile a new edition of the "Ohio Book" with all World title matches (2008-2011) and Ohio State tournament games of recent years in one collection.

Dr. B:
Your book on your match with Suki is excellent. Nice diagrams and first class annotations. With our ACF GAYP Nationals this year this book is a " must " for any serious student of the game.
