Lets return back to business. I spoke with Fredo last night and he said that he can drive from Chicago if it won't be a long way. This may give us a good money saving for the whole deal compare with bus costs expanses. It depends now - what National bid we have: location and time. I hope we should learn this soon.
Getting best online players into real tournaments will definetely benefit checkers.
Several yers ago I tried to get more attention to "strong players league" but wasn't very successful. They are passing away, becoming inactive, quiting. This time was lost. Today we should change our strategy and immediately recriute new ones. I am telling you folks - if we don't do this today, another 5-10 years will be crucial and critical, we can lose our ground - champions.
Without champions and strong players checkers is not a sport anymore, it's more like "Tic-Tac-Toc". Strong players, grandmasters and champions keep game alive at respectable level.
If I have a choice - love game but keep it at "penny like" level or hate the game and being paid, play checkers for living and write in bank mortgage application: "Profession - checkers player" ... then my choice is quite obvious
Absolutely everything Jo (lt/sh) said is painful but true. I agree with each his statement regarding miserable status of checkers today.
I am playing checkers, not chess.
