Irma presents some good points! I seldom agree with here, but she makes some interesting presentations. Alex, you must do a good job of refuting some of the statements she makes.

Re: ACF Election 2015.
Several days ago I did receive in email electronic version of ACFB including a separate attachment - election ballot. I am wondering if today in 21st century we can allow email people voting. this will be also very good gesture to foreign ACF members and easy for many people. if I will be elected - I will support an idea of voting over email.
All after all - I want to remind all of you folks: you have to cast your ballot by the end of April.
The only thing I still don't understand very well - why this particular year deadline for elections was postponed ? Most (or all) previous years it was end of February or March. Kind of strange thing.

Re: ACF Election 2015.
Some responses to Alex’s two questions:
1) This e-voting question arose just prior to bulletin deadline. I support discussion (by next Exec or other committee) on implementing electronic voting, but there are more angles to think through than to just say, “let’s do it.” At my job, I e-mail many documents via pdf of signed original, and it works well. But some considerations: The process for many years (and still the preferred norm for now) is that sealed mailed ballots are brought before three-person committee so everything is opened in front of committee. I think we have good people on this year’s committee, but simply e-mailing ballot to the chairman permits one person controlling all the information. So, maybe the voters would have to do something like e-mail all three committee members (while hoping voters actually follow these instructions). This assumes election committee members have email and are able to bring all information to where they convene (not all ACF members have active e-mail accounts and printers). Other related topics are verifying sender is correct (maybe a low-risk concern?), what to do if e-bulletin subscriber doesn’t have a printer, offering editable ballots, determining what kind of signatures are allowed, etc.
As for this cycle, we do encourage all ACF members to vote that want to, and we can send members a mailed ballot if needed.
2) Shift in timeline was because one step of the process (Official call for nominations) missed the December bulletin. Without going into detail, there was some last-minute activity to get correct text submitted by bulletin deadline. I thought the text was worked out in time, but yet it didn’t appear in final mailed bulletin. My apologies here. With that said, it was disappointing that there were no further nominations anyway.

Re: ACF Election 2015.
Alex, I cast my vote. I voted for Alan for President and Michael Holmes for player representative. I did this after careful consideration of all the facts and propaganda. I also cast my vote for Richard for treasurer(A most honest man!!) and I voted for the other people I was authorized to vote for.

Re: ACF Election 2015.
Thanks, Neil ! Each vote is counted and each vote is important. If you decided that Michael and Alan campaign program and propaganda works better for you - so be it ! As more people cast ballot - as better and accurate final outcome will be.neilwenberg wrote:Alex, I cast my vote. I voted for Alan for President and Michael Holmes for player representative. Re: ACF Election 2015.
All I can do - repeat it again: come and vote and your vote will be counted and your vote will be extremely valuable.
If you are looking for changes and improvement in ACF, you have a qualify candidates - me and John Acker. And if you believe that things in ACF go in right directions and don't need improvements - you also have an excellent choice of Alan Millhone and Michael Holmes.
You can't even imagine how important is your vote in 2015 elections !
And of course, don't forget to pay your annual membership fee $40. If you didn't do it yet - put your check into envelope with ballot and it will be processed.

Re: ACF Election 2015.
Yesterday I received email from JR with "preliminary" results of ACF 2015 elections. All numbers are from May 1 and it appears like there were no
additional "late birds" votes from May 1 to May 9. Preliminary results show that in races where we had more than 1 candidate, me and
Alan Millhone became a winners. President race outcome was more close and as I promised all of you - your vote was important and counted!
Thanks everyone who participated in elections and everyone who intended to do this.
I will do all my best to accomplish my campaign goals and issues which I posted here. I also will do all my best to end controversy between John Acker and former ACF administration and join our efforts again. I am open and plan to work with everyone who wish ACF best and want to improve it.
Congratulations to winners.
Respectfully,

Mr. Alex, thank you for the update! As Benjamin Franklin said many years ago, "We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately."

Re: ACF Election 2015.
I don't post here all that often. I did vote in the election, of course, but now I'll only say this.
I just wish we could all get along, for the sake of checkers. We are too small a community to become fragmented, and it isn't good for the future of checkers.
I'll continue to support checkers as best I can. What a shame it would be if organized checkers were to die out. Let's not let that ever happen.
