Palamino yure a breath of fresh air, im liking your commentaries as well, they are very informative.America is such a huge place, with so much to see and do.From our little nation of 4 1/2 million people, its so interesting. And apologies for taking up checker space, but im pleased some of you are interested.

Jan, did you read this sign? WOW!

Costello di Amoroso > 3 acres under roof, a moat with drawbridge, a prison with torture chamber,107 rooms in all including an apartment for Nobles.

Now in which room do you suppose Jim would want to spend the night?
After having ridden all those miles he'd maybe want the one with the rack so he could stretch his muscles and aching back, what do you think?

Yes, I agree Jan, just amazing!

Searched Castello di Amorosa on the Wikipedia site to learn more about it, very interesting.

Lots of pictures to be found on google images like this picture of some poor young Italian maiden who seems to be a captive in one of the towers. (Probably made to crush grapes with her bare feet.) When Jim returns home you must ask him; why didn't you rescue her when you had the chance? I think it would be nice if he had thought to bring her home with him so you could have someone to play checkers with. I hear that the Italians are pretty good at checkers.

Hey Jan, what happened to Jim's friends? Did they have to go back to NZ earlier than Jim because of work?

Jan, today Jim posted on his blog http://coolkiwi55.blogspot.com
the following:
2 guys doing country music asked where I was from (only 5 people in restaurant)
and
they want a kiwi song so got up on mike and taught them 10 guitars

Also he posted.
...out of there before I had to do a Haka

I had to look that up, had no idea what he was talking about. ("Haka" I mean.)

Rabbits doing a haka?

Jan, I think that if Jim had started doing a haka dance there would have soon been only one person in that restaurant! Bar? Too many Buds? ...and what about those rabbits.

He would have cleared the bar anyway with his singing. As for the haka, have you never seen our all blacks perform it? Its our ferocious war dance. In fact the maori soldiers used to perform it before going into battle during the world wars, and frighten the life out of the enemies.

Jan, did you watch the videos from the links I posted?

Inia Maxwell taught the All Blacks how to do the Haka.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_rotEpFtZU

and I Think that's the All Blacks in the other video teaching the rabbits how to do the Haka.

Scared the pellets out of those rabbits.

Well I'm learning something new every day..."Pal"
