(Page 83 opening #71 note H) Mr. Loy you say that apparantly Lindsay was supposed to start with Red first. I have checked and I was supposed to start with white first as I did(I can not figure out why you think I was supposed to start with red first). You also said it happened in several other pairs in this International Match. I can not find a single instance where anyone started their games with the wrong colors. Also (page 23 & 24 opening #7 note A) you say that Webster and Harwood must have had old 3-move cards. Before each round the referee Mr Caws came to each table and each person drew a card (from his offical EDA 3-move deck) to determine our opening and he also made sure each person had the proper colors to start. It seems to me that you have a misconception of the way the match was conducted, so I just thought that I needed to clarify things and assure you everthing was done in a proper and professional way.

Pairings, openings, etc.
I think the colors were determined from the 1st board and then alternated from there. Lindsay is correct by saying it was professionally conducted and only one deck was used. I bought a copy of the deck Lindsay is referring to since it is a lot different from the style that we have (although they have the same openings). It is very possible since they have been using the new openings much longer than we have that they have the moves in a different order.
On a different note, I would like to thank everyone, including Mr. Loy and Mr. Lindsay, for their contribution to the book.

19-15 at note C was much stronger (win ?) and can punish inaccurate 3-7 (instead PP 4-8 ) at previous move.
28-24 as played in the game, returns back to published play.

Re: 8th International Book
What really amazed me - Page 128, Game #129, note A.
Annotator Michael Holmes declared 10-14 23-19 11-15 as a "new opening"
It is true that this opening was banned in 1931, however it was approved in 1982 and became a part of regular deck and is well covered in "Basic Checkers" and "Solid Checkers".
Richard Fortman said that this sometimes was a part of GAYP play during freestyle days: 11-15 23-19 10-14 and was called "Virginia"
On my part I also want to thanks everyone who contributed to this book and especially Gerry Lopez for his exceptional work as editor.

Errors
As Dr. Beckwith has pointed out, there are a few errors. And as Moiseyev pointed out, I made an error in Note A of the game asthe comment posted above states. In note C I mention that play is given in Basic Checkers and Solid Checkers on this opening and as far as I know the 2-6 move is new.

Re: 8th International Book
In terms of accuracy analyses - I can prove that book is close to 100% clear from serious errors in contest. I find couple funny typos, incorrect references on couple occasions and thats probably all about.
In biography section I find one error: Dr. Webster finished second in the 1997 GAYP National, not 2001.
Like in game of Gene Lindsay which I also mentioned in this topic (see above), I find five or six "new ways to go" worthy to cover, but it doesn't change the main resolution in analyses.
Tremendous team work.
Also, editors had a great sense of humor putting sometimes together analyses and comments from different annotators. And together they produced a colourful picture !
Couple times I find my comments better than comments of co-workers, but couple times I agreed that my comments were just a little trash compare with comments of other annotators.
One of my great weaknesses is - proper references, and on many occasions Jim Loy, Bob Murr and other annotators corrected me. Also I was a little bit disappointed by finding alot of exclamation marks in my comments !!!
Too overemotional.
As far as I know - the number of the "8th IM" printed copies is limited and whoever wants to wait a better prices can lose a chance to buy a book.
Sincerely,
Alex
