Ryan Pronks Annoying Message

Post by EdTrice »

Does anyone know someone named Ryan Pronk? It is about 8:45 here Thursday morning, and someone using that night contacted me via AIM and challenged me to play checkers (some people have jobs) then called me a "proggy", whatever that is.

Does anyone know why certain checkers players have this maniacal behavior? I stopped counting the number of people who have issued blatant "challenges" to me over the years, and it really makes you guys appear pathetic, honestly.

And as for Alex calling me a "novice" after he visited me December 18, 2004, I find that hard to believe.

1. I could not even stand up, having recently gotten out of traction for a broken back.

2. He had only called the day before, mentioning he would be meeting his son, and suggested a get together.

3. We did not play any checkers until I had already played games of chess, and Gothic Chess, with his son, and after we had each had a few beers. We also played using chess pawns on a chess board, not the best way to play checkers.

I just fail to understand why this has anything to do with the way I was playing checkers 10 years ago when I was not being harassed by people and I was just having fun.

Ed, I didn't say - "you are novice", I said - "you played like novice". This is a big difference. Even if I would play with some master or grandmaster I knew, and they play it the same way as you did, I would say the same:

"Hey, you just played it as novice".

I know - you didn't have a practice for long time before we played December 2004, and you didn't have a good chance to be prepared. But I tried to be honest in my statement

And I can prove again - during our games the only extra help you had - couple extra glasses of beer. No programs, books or human help.

I also thinking about some day in future, on my way to New York, visit Ed Gilbert in NJ for few hours and if he agrees, play with him couple games. Then we can compare !!! :P

Sincerely,

Alex,

If you want a true comparison:

1. I can jack my Mustang up high enough for you to crawl under.
2. I can kick the jack out and simulate how the car fell on me.
3. I'll give you the same care, 6 months in traction after an emergency surgery.
4. Two months later, after you played absolutely no checkers actively at all in the interim, I'll give you one day's notice, show up, watch you play 3 games of chess, then play you some checkers.

Did you completely forget I was hardly able to walk? Did you forget that I could hardly get up the stairs to show you the 7-piece perfect play database?

I gave you a winning position with 4 pieces against 3, and you failed to win it, no matter how many times you did a take back, you constantly found ways to draw the winning position.

Did I bother mentioning that to anyone before this?

And if my game is so bad, why the hell do people constantly want to play me? Why don't you all just leave me the :!: alone?

It may sound strange, but it IS a kind of compliment:

The people look at your programs and wonder if the master mind behind it is also as a player strong as his program.
In their "simple" minds it has no logic if a programmer performs worse then his program. ;-(

I feel sorry for them and hope that they stop spoiling you, as your work on checker programming is really outstanding, and I wonder if they can match you in this area ?

On the other hand, you should feel honoured, as this feedback shows how good your programs really are .

And : do you know the difference between a good player and a bad player ?

 I am very saddened to read this because I can remember reading Alex's most kind and thoughtful message (that he shared with all of us) concerning his visit to your home Ed. Alex may not always express himself in the most tactful ways and in reading his message I did not feel that there was any disrespect of any kind expressed; just that he had enjoyed his visit with you very much. In May of 2004 Alex travelled between 500-600 miles to come here to visit me and then he turned right around the very next day and drove home. There would be no way that I would even think of wanting to change that wonderful visit into something sad today. We felt honored to have him here. I did not play any games of checkers with Alex because I did not want to send him home with a loss and feeling sad. But we did send him home with a couple of books that hopefully have been of help to him in improving his game. A few days ago I expressed to Alex to focus his efforts on the positives in checkers and not waste his time dwelling on the negatives that may come his way. Life is just to short for all of us, so lets make the best of those few years that we have left of it. "Inky"

To Ed Trice & Ms. Becky:

There is no any disrespect on my part and I don't think there is any disrespect on Ed side. I also don't think he was disappointed with any of my future messages. For me and my son Michael it was very enjoyable time, and I hope for Ed, his wife and daughter also.

Can you beleive or not, but since this time Michael already changed his appartments 3 times (ohhh), and he always care the set of Gothic Chess, which you gave him and continue to play with his friends.

Concerning our games and endings - it's a different story. I was really enjoy your book and learn from this ending. And, yes, I agree, our games don't indicate anything more than just having a fun time.

Remember, I told you - you need more practice and study for recovery, thats all.

Sincerely,

Alex

Im sure Ryan Pronk is big enough to speak for himself Patrick.

Its a kinda coincidence though that Alex and Ryan were in Tenessee together mm?? but than again it was prob just that, a "coincidence and its nice to see Ms B playing peacemaker pouring oil on troubled waters!!.

So the verdict of the "jury"is that Alex has been a "bad boy" and Ryan (Billy the Kid) still has to give evidence in his defence if he can be found in them thar hills..

Tommy, could you explain to me exactly what you mean? It sounds to me like you have a personal vendetta against Ryan.

Patrick was simply making a truthful statement. Do you need Ryan to to "speak for himself" in order for it to be more truthful?

and what in the world do you mean its a coincidence that Alex and Ryan were in TN together? Its one of the toughest tournaments in the world, so why would 2 master players not want to be there? Alex drove from Ohio and Ryan flew in from Arizona... is that a coincidence too?

Get a life "baz" it means exactly what it says on the "tin". No i have nothing against Ryan. As you are aware he has a laptop computer and no, i dont expect Patrick to "speak" for him truthful or otherwise.

As you know 2+2 makes four that a simple calculation and i am not entirely convinced by eithers alibi.

If you have something positive to add to the dilema then say so , if not shut it.

HA HA..., thats a good one, your telling me to get a life when your the one chiming in on something that nothing to do with you just so you can take a cheap shot against Ryan? Yet you have nothing against him? Never mind the fact I very much enjoy my life, but thanks for your concern.

Now what does Ryan having a laptop got to do with anything? Ryan was my roommate at TN, so if your implying that he had it with him while he was there, then your theory would be wrong.

So it sounds to me like your the one with nothing useful or positive to say, so maybe your the one who should "shut it"...
