Women and Youth.
OK.... Enough is enough about all this men, women, youth and name calling..... I am loosing some respect I had for some of you.Jazmine was one of the nicest young ladies I ever met....Maybe Alan can step in on this and demand the subject be stopped. I regret I even made a comment .. If you like or dislike a Lady, that is your right.. And if you don`t like me, heheh.. tuff stuff.. You might not get any of my goodies.. lolol. Be nice to others and they will be nice to you..May we have some fun stuff for a change?????????? Why did God creat a woman????? He knew a man would need someone to do things right and clean up men`s messes.... Some are getting kinda messy in here... I can`t do it but...... HEY ALAN..... hahahah See we all make mistakes... Have a great week end and have some fun...

Hello Bugs:
I made your post a " sticky " as your post says it all Let us all try our best to avoid mean postings. Yes, I know it makes the ACF Forum rather dull without them.................... If any of you want to say mean , counter productive things, then go to another web site to do so !!
Let us get back to the business of promoting Checkers/Draughts, youth , women, men in our game . I am sure the rest of the Cgheckered world is laughing at us and our antics on the forum.
Also a really men post is being reviewed by the ACF Exec. Committee and webmaster. I would like for the person (hint hint) to remove that post on their own ...........................................
Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

If this is the post you are referring to me; then get er done. I am quite ok standing by what I say and whatever consequences that entails. Alex may be quite right in his evaluation!!!!!!! Alex look back over the years at the posts you have made here about Jan, and women and even youth. Your track record is there to see. Your comments about the prize money being more for the master class than the others clearly shows where your respect is. I remember what acf did to Client after he put time and sweat into this very website. ACF does not have a very great record with youth and women in the last 10 or 15 years that I have witnessed.
In reality - we have to start checkers over.
Alan do not stoop to what others do.If you have a problem with someone then man up and SAY it either in private email or here but do not accuse and insinuate....just say what is on your mind plainly. Also a really men post is being reviewed by the ACF Exec. maybe Alex is right

For alan-
i voiced my displeasure over an Unfortunate act; Call it mean, go ahead. Kill the whole thread. apparently its a bigger deal that i said something vs the topic i was talking about. Obviously no one talks about the positives and negatives about charles walker on this site either. For in my defense, i spoke my mind and wont discuss it again if it soo offends people. Fittingly, if you feel the need to discuss this further, by all means, speak to me in person next time i see you at a tournament

Re: Women and Youth.
We have a teachable moment here for the ACF directors. I just went over RMDionisio's 29 post since joining this forum and I have met the young man personally. Apparently the one in discussion has been removed. All 29 post that I read were productive and supportive. I think the man has the right to post a negative comment if he feels so driven. 1 out of 29...got to be kidding. Anyway, what the ACF directors have done is annihilated yet another young player by their actions.(I have not seen the alleged post, but I sure have seen worse here, I'm sure of that) This is a excellent example of ACF current leadership turning off young players. It would have been better to say in open forum what you found offensive in the post and educate everyone and grow all parties better or at least talk to RMDionisio personally or by email. In my humble checker challenged opinion this was a classic way NOT TO HANDLE SITUATIONS LIKE THIS. Look no farther for reasons ACF is not growing. Just my opinion and in this fine country we all are supposedly allowed to have one.
PS thank goodnss for spell ch and Shuss John! hehe

Ted ......you may have an axe to grind but be sensible Ramon was out of order completely,i mean you can review my many posts and i can tell you i dont mess abt when something needs saying. If RD haD let off 29 shots and only one hits the target im sure you wouldnt want it to be someboby close to you..........lets face it he had a point and im not a fan of the plonker by any means but if yu have an issue with the ACF MANAGEMENT then im sure yur a big enough man that yu dont have to stand on the shoulders of Ramon D to assert THAT view.As for Charlie Walker well he done the crime and done the time but he just makes the place look bad.
In Alexs defence i must say he does promote the game, not in the way myself or Kim or many others do but hes still a plus of that i have no doubt.

Re: Women and Youth.
For what it's worth, I advised Alan to remove the post.
I know you have not read it Ted, but Ramon made a very serious accusation of another player.
Being that this is an openly searchable forum (meaning you can type in someones name on google and mentions of that name on this forum will show up), it is of my opinion that it could've been very harmful if left unchanged. Disagreeing with people or policy is fine, so long as it's not done in an abusive or slanderous fashion.
I have no problem with Ramon, though I've never met him, he seems very sensible and enthusiastic about the game. I just did not feel that post was appropriate.
The entire thread had pretty much deteriorated. Aside from Kim's post stating all the good things she's done/doing for the youth, I don't think we lost anything of importance.
A reminder, these are the terms everyone agreed to when signing up.

I didn't necessarily agree with all of Alex's suggestions but he should have been given the respect and consideration anyone deserves when they step forward to help.
I realize that Alex inadvertently slighted Kim by suggesting we appoint someone to be "ACF Youth Director". It may be that Alex didn't know that Kim held that post or maybe he simply forgot. I sometimes forget things and want to give Alex the benefit of my doubts. I wasn't sure myself, in that Kim has the responsibilities of holding down the jobs of ACF Treasure and Secretary, jobs which in the past were done by two people (what a bargain, one person doing the jobs of two and at the same pay $0.00, thanks Kim) I thought that maybe Kim had given up the duties of Youth Director. I searched the Website to see if I could find the name of our Youth Director and came up empty. Under the heading of "ACF INFO" I found "Governance" then "Officers" and we have listed the names of our President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Players Representative along with the names of the District Managers but nowhere could I find the name of our Youth Director. I'm sure it's there but I couldn't find it, anyway I don't think an oversight like that is worth the cost of going to war and I believe it costs the ACF plenty when we fight with each other on this public forum.
BTW:
Did you know that under "By Laws -ARTICLE VI " the ACF President has the duty of appointing a National Organizer (subject to the approval of the Executive Committee) "to promote the growth and interests of the game in general"?
Does anyone know who that person is? I don't. A double hex and plague upon anyone who might suggest we create such a position! Oh yeah, I think Alex did that also, shame on you Alex, another oversight we can use against you.
Seriously, I think we need to have the names of our "APPOINTED OFFICERS" - Youth Director, Equipment Director, National Mail Play Director, Bulletin Editor... etc listed on the Website in an easily found location so that people know who they are, if for no other reason than to give them recognition for the time and effort they put in as volunteers.
In conclusion I want to say that I believe we should be able to disagree and discuss ideas without the personal attacks.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, If im correct the entire topic started from someone saying they was not respected cause of gender or was this something else? I think it got way out of hand and maybe blown up a little bit. Its very simple next time a touchy topic gets brought up dont even make a reply post. Billy

Re: Women and Youth.
Yes, I agree the current list isn't too easily found here or in the ACF bulletin.Did you know that under "By Laws -ARTICLE VI " the ACF President has the duty of appointing a National Organizer (subject to the approval of the Executive Committee) "to promote the growth and interests of the game in general"? Does anyone know who that person is? .....Seriously, I think we need to have the names of our "APPOINTED OFFICERS" - Youth Director, Equipment Director, National Mail Play Director, Bulletin Editor... etc listed...
I was National Organizer prior to becoming Player Rep. For lack of volunteers, I still share many of the individual duties here (as does J.R. Smith). For example, A "Tournament Guide" (5-year revision) was written by myself recently and added to this site as a download (ACF info page -- and ignoring the rest of the page). As for the other roles (and I may be forgetting some of them):
Youth Director -- Kim Willis
Equipment Director -- Roger Blaine
Bulletin Editor -- Jim Loy
ACF Webmaster -- Jason Solan
ACF Trustees -- Steve Holliday, Joe LoConti, and myself
ACF Store -- Rich Beckwith
ACF Ratings Processor – Patrick Parker
Games Processor -- Jim Loy has been doing this recently
ACFB Games Annotator -- Jim Loy
GAYP Club -- Michael Stewart (not sure if he is still active)
The Mail Play Director role seems unnecessary now -- it's been several years since I have seen an I-D mail tournament. There are other unfilled positions are that open to qualified volunteers such as in the areas of publicity, corporate sponsorship, business management, etc. There is a real need here.
The elected positions (Exec, V.P's, District Managers) have already been showing on this site, although there will be some changes here with elections coming soon.

Thanks Rich,
And a big THANK YOU for all the volunteers, without them there wouldn't be an American Checker Federation.
Now wouldn't it be nice to see their names listed under the header ACF Info?
Best regards..."Pal"

I guess it's not an "official" position, but I reckon Josh Armstrong (aka "Jolt") deserves a lot of credit and thanks for posting all the great problems (I assume he does this as a volunteer). Some of those babies are beyond-belief pretty (and a lot of them are beyond-belief hard, at least for me...).rich beckwith wrote:Yes, I agree the current list isn't too easily found here or in the ACF bulletin.
