ACF Bulletin August 2010...New format ????

Post by Jay H »

Greetings All...
I received my ACFB today.....the text only covers half the page, and is printed sideways.
Is this a new format (??), or a flub from the printers.
Text is very small....kinda tough to read......

Regards

Hello Jay,

I got my copy of the bulletin today also and everything was okay.

Your copy must have gotten hung up some way. Contact Alan

and I am sure he will get you a good copy.

All the best,
Mac

If not going please contact me by email, etc. and I will forward a good copy. I apologize for this and the ACF will make it right.

I was on the phone with Al Darrow and he said his copy was defective also, but my ACFB #346 was fine. Yes the front cover (books and complete ECB) was detailed on page 14 but left off the hard copy, only on electronic pdf file; however, the 5 solutions to Guest Beginners' Page by Gerry Lopez are printed in hard copy under diagrams but omitted on pdf (but appear on backcover).
For sale, complete set ECB monthly, Jan. 1947 to July 1971, $125(?) + postage. Steve Holliday,
565 Bayfair Dr., Bay Village, OH 44140, phone 440-871-8560.
New books: 1997 World Mail Checkers Qualifier/1998 World Mail Checkers Championship Match
(both events won by G. I. Miller), 100 pages, folded and stapled, $10 (add $2 for overseas). Basic
Checkers Part 8 (J. Loy’s corrections of BC, from the ACFB), 102 pages, $10 (add $2 for overseas).
Purchase at the ACF Online Store (http://www.usacheckers.com/acfstore.php) or from Jim Loy,
1104 S. Montana H7, Bozeman, MT 59715.
Al called me to let me know the 2010 Connecticut State GAYP will be in East Haddam not Shelton, CT. I told him it was to late to get it back in ACFB. http://www.nccheckers.org/NCCA/2010%20C ... ourney.htm

I Know you are kidding  http://www.gerrylopezsurfboards.com/ Our Gerry is the promoter of the Las Vegas Nationals and we are just as proud of him, he probably does surf since he can to so many other things beside play checkers.

Apparently, the "new format" was with pages printed sideways, and lots of blank space. Not sure how that happened. My copy was good except that the interior pages were from an old file with the same filename, which confused someone at the print shop.

Thanks for letting us know when the wheels fall off. As editor, I want to hear about things like that. Seems to be rare. Here are the ads (sorry to repeat what JR did above, but this may be slightly clearer):
