Maybe if more of these foul mouthed morons deleted their accounts the ACF site would be a better place to visit. It is little wonder their memberships are dwindling . Who in their right mind would subscribe to a site which tolerates such filth and personal attacks on civilised posters? I certainly would NOT. And I know I am not the only poster who feels this way. Come on ACF moderators, CLEAN up this forum for once and for all!

Trash posts

Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Everyone:

I can see the Checker/Draughts world once again laughing their heads off to some of the forum's horrible and usless posts !!

Be advised any/all of you will be dleleted from the forum for a year (maybe longer) if these tirades don't stop NOW !!

I have received emails from all over the globe as to these miserable posts.

British Navy At The Dinner Table rules apply 24/7. I have the power to add new members and to remove members. The last time I deleted posts I caught heck from a few.

Use this simple question when posting: If what I post would I want my parents to read ??

Be professional and do what is right and promote our wonderful game. Many are not themselves when behind a keyboard and hidden from public view.

Trash talk will NOT be tolerated. This is not an idle threat, but a promise.

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

I have noticed the "nod and wink" lobby within the ACF are suggesting that I made a "PROCATIVE" post recently resulting in a regular poster here doing what he is best at. Making a filthy ,disgusting personal attack on me. He then realised he had dug himself into a big hole, and not getting the reply he hoped for decided to delete ALL his previous posts citing that "somebody" else had been using his name. I have sinse had confirmation from Jason Salon that there was no "GHOST writer" It was himself who was the author. I did not pose provocation on any individual, nor did I name any individual. The unfortunate poster contrived that I had made a personal attack on HIM and responded in a most inappropriate manner.

Bernard I apologize for singling you out in my previous post. I meant it as an example of what I hate about this forum not as a personal attack on you. I have a lot of respect for you.
There are many similar posts from many people (including Nick and Eric) and I'm sorry if you feel I chose yours for any particular reason.

Thanks Jason, I felt I had to push a point which was being overlooked, either by accident or design. It is good to see that the problems in the forum are being addressed. I do realise some posters (myself included) could have had a beer or two. BUT the onus is onthe keyboard operator is to check that he/she posts within the house rules.

I always stated that any conversation about promoting the game is trash, provoke and must be deleted. Only conversations about games, positions, tournament results and anouncements allow.

Another possibility could be ... there are some people who wants to talk about game promotion for any price. They can't live without possibility to talk about checkers promotion. In this case they can pay some penalty or fee to ACF and allow to speak about this. For instance - 20 cents per line.

This may give ACF some money.

Greetings:

I diagree.

How does a conversation which sincerely attempts to promote the game of Checkers equate to "trash" which "must be deleted?"

With all due respect, this makes no sense to me.

Because we have these conversations for years since this forum was created about 5 years ago. NONE of these convesation had any outcome - converted into real deals or initiatives. Most, 99.99% of these conversations are something like this ...

- We have to promote our old, lovely game !
- Yes, we have to do something !
- No, we have to do something now !
- Too late to do anything, checkers gonna die, die, die !
- Lets try to encorage online players come to real tournaments !
- What about woman, should we do something here also ?

Something familiar ?

Since 2005 when forum was created I can show you several handred topics and thousand posts which are extremely close to this dialogue. And again, it's not started yesterday, it's going for many years with no results.

All these statistics make me very pessimistic and sceptical and thats why I consider all these posts as trash and provoke. It will be also a true to say that very few people who really does something are not very active on this forum or are not part of this forum at all.

Respectfully,

Greetings:

If "no results" have resulted from any of our prior conversations focused upon the promotion of our game, then this is all the more reason for members of the checker fraternity to feel free to step up their efforts to do so.

I believe all checker players who belong to this forum should feel completely and totally free to explore and discuss the promotion of our game to the fullest extent possible, within the parameters which dilineate the standards of civility and mutual respect which govern this forum.

Personally, I believe special attention should be given to the following:

***Factors which are inhibiting the growth and the promotion of our game.

***Positive and proactive solutions which can facilitate the growth and promotion of our game.

If a "meeting of the minds" has not yet occurred, this does not mean that it cannot and will not occur.
Alex_Moiseyev wrote: All these statistics make me very pessimistic and sceptical and thats why I consider all these posts as trash and provoke.
I consider this to be an insult to every player who has ever made an honest, sincere, and constructive effort on this forum to discuss possible solutions to facilitate the promotion of our game.

It sounds like you are advocating either censorship or the impsosition of penalties for people who wish to express their ideas regarding the promotion of our game.

As an American, I find your proposals to be antithetical to what America stands for.

No, it will be more like fundraising - you pay money for something which you really don't need but you know where your money are comning and how thye will be spend.

In this case it will be at least on positive outcome from all these so-called promotional posts - they will help to collect some money and use them for good.

BTW. Dennis, please, check American history - American's always worked hard to achieve their goals and dreams. They never waste their time and indeed, never had a cheap talk and doing nothing. This is anti-American behaviour.

OK, I stop (try to stop, though not easy !!!) to talk about this because my penalty reach the price of cigarets pack, which is certainly more worthy and enjoyable than all these conversations.

NO to promotional trash talks.

John, I think I listed all of these ideas above. Did I miss anything ? I didn't see any new ideas on this forum for long time. Only declarations and repeating that "Checkers must be promoted"

We can consider success of any promotional idea, if it's resulted into increasing membership and imrpoving financies. Probably Gene Lindsay fund was the only real promoional thing done in the past years in Anglo-American fraternity.

I am still in great favor of charging everyone who pretend to promote the game on this forum. Maybe 10 cents per line of any promotional trash post would work ? Then anyone who posts here will be more responsible for what they are saying.

Many (not al) correspondents on this forum are extremely addictive to "promotion posts" and can't live one day without saying something promotional in public. This penalty/charge/fee can help them to handle better their addictivness and finally become healthy citizens - stop talking about promotion.

Regards,

Alex
