Checkers in Schools

Post by kim willis »

Hello everyone,
This week has been very busy for me. I was called to a meeting with our High School principle who asked me if I would interested in teaching checkers in their school. I of course said yes. Plus this principle new 3 other school principles and said that he was going to talk to them on this subject to see if they wanted to try this. This has finally came to happen I have 5 schools to go speak to their students. Monday I will be going to one of the schools. Threw out the week I will be speaking. I have had the door come wide open now and I hope to teach checkers in these schools and have school vs school tournaments.
Not really knowing how many students will get involved which is kinda scary. But I am so happy about it I really don't care. The only thing really bothering me is that I need sponsorship so I can get the materials like boards and checkers. Plus a demonstration board for all the schools. This will cost a bit. But my goal is that in 2012 to have the biggest Youth tournament ever at the nationals.

I have worked at this for over 5 years and I am proud to say it is happening now. If anyone wants to help me I'll appreciate it much.
