Good afternoon everyone
I just received news that John McGill has been in and out of hospital since October. John has a blood disorder, and has declared cancer.
For those who may not know this great SCOTTISH (British) champion he was among the best of the best British players in the 60's and 70's along with Oldbury, Marshall, and Edwards.
It was John who taught me the subtilities of the game when I started playing in my youth. He not only is a GREAT Champion, but also a very humble and kind person.
My thoughts are with him and his familly
JOHN McGILL

Re: JOHN McGILL
I'm very sorry to hear this news: a truly great champion.
One example of John's skill: his plus score against the USA team in 1973. What more can one say?

Re: JOHN McGILL
Hi William,
This really is the most terrible news. I met John McGill in 1973 at the Scottish Open and found him to be a really nice person. I went to his home in 1988 and he gave me the most wonderful welcome. As you rightly say, one of the greats of the game. I will be thinking about him and wishing him well.
Regards,
Lindus.
