Hi all,
I met earlier this week with Quint Hodges, another player who lives near me (I'm now living in Fort Smith, Arkansas). He has started looking into having another Arkansas State Checkers Tournament in Fort Smith sometime early next summer. I'd like to see if there's any interest from those in the region for such a tournament, which we'd probably hold sometime in late April - early May. Would anyone here be interested in attending such a tournament? And if so, is there a date preference besides early summer? We thought it would be a nice warm-up tournament leading up to some of the bigger tourneys (I.e. Southern States, District 8, Nats).
Hope everyone is doing well, despite the sad news earlier this week of Jan's passing. I knew Jan very well and have the privilege of meeting her in person many years ago. She was a wonderful person who will be sorely missed. I had really hoped to be able to attend a tournament in New Zealand next year like she had wanted.

- What do you like about checkers?: I love strategy games and checkers fits the bill for a great strategy game, that requires logic and problem solving skills.

I work on Saturdays now, so my vacation time is limited, but it would be great news if you and Quint are able to get the Arkansas State Tournament going again.

I would be interested in playing. I played Quint in the Branson Tourney in June.

Re: Arkansas Checkers Tournament
I could have a possible interest if I live until next year. I have a good friend who lives at Mena, Arkansas and I also took my army basic training at Camp Chaffee in 1955 and I played golf on the Camp Chaffee course in 1997. So I have been to Fort Smith once before
