I got this email from Paul Braithwaite Editor of EDA Journal - Oct 14, 2019, 4:27 AM

"Gents,
IAN CAWS, EDA kingpin - you are probably aware of this devastating news.
Paul Braithwaite.

Dear All,

I’ve just been give the devastating news that Ian Caws died suddenly yesterday while attending the world championships in Barbados. It’s a terrible blow to all who knew him and to the game of draughts.

Best wishes,
Ken"

Now it seems it happened in England on Oct. 11. He left Barbados on the 8th to return. Nevertheless, very sad and a loss for checkers. Ian was a fine gentleman.
