Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce a new program, "CheckerPlayer". The result of four years' work, it's completely free and available in the Microsoft Store on the link below. It does everything that Checkerboard does and it features database management tools, PDN validation, attractive and adjustable board displays and a lot more that I hope you will find useful. It has its own built-in engine but you can use others such as Kingsrow and Cake and it has been tested successfully with the latest versions of those great engines.
Download from the Microsoft Store:

I'd be interested to know your thoughts and please let me know if you have any ideas for improvements or new features!
Thanks,
Steve Williams, Wales UK.

It's for American Checkers / English Draughts only.

Re: "CheckerPlayer" Software
Hi Alex!
Thanks for your message. In answer to your questions:
1) Yes, CheckerPlayer is compliant with Kingsrow 10-piece databases. It also works with the additional Distance-To-Win databases that Ed Gilbert has on his Kingsrow website. If you want to use the Kingsrow engine instead of the CheckerPlayer's built-in engine, this is easy to do because CheckerPlayer has similar functionality to CheckerBoard. You simply put your favourite engines (and engine opening books, if any) into CheckerPlayer's engine folder and select Kingsrow64.dll from the Engine Parameters menu. You can also point the engines to your 10-piece database folder. The support site (after my signature) has all the details.
2) If you choose Kingsrow as your engine, CheckerPlayer will use the Kingsrow opening book. The built-in engine (called "ZoeEngine") has its own opening book. CheckerPlayer is designed to be a nice interface with useful functionality for checker players. But if you want to use the best engines (and I'm sure you do), you can install Kingsrow and use it as your main engine and still enjoy all the functionality that CheckerPlayer has to offer.
After installation, CheckerPlayer will use its own built-in engine ("ZoeEngine") and you can try out all the functions of CheckerPlayer immediately with no effort. If you then want to use another engine, for example Kingsrow, or Cake, you simply put the engine files into the CheckerPlayer engine folder, which is: C:\ProgramData\CheckerPlayer\engines
Probably the simplest method is to copy your existing CheckerBoard engine files into the above folder. Any questions, please fire away!
Best wishes,
Steve.
