RIP Al Lyman, past editor of the ACFB. Many of us remember Al's historical and instructional website https://checkerworld.com (now inactive). Al Lyman set the Gold Standard for checkers websites.

Al did a great job as the editor of the ACFB. His articles and play of the new openings were great. He will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Fortunately you can still access most of the checkerworld.com content from 2003 to about 2014 with the internet wayback machine on archive.org/web. I found Al's eclectic and detailed content to be both instructive and inspirational. I once had a copy of his Straight Checkers Gold and it reflected Al's way of teaching by example. It was way ahead of its time.

Another of the famous names is no longer with us.
