"In Losing One Becomes a Winner"

Post by Mr. Checkers »

Alan plays in the Masters Division. In playing better players he loses, but he expands his knowledge base of the games, which makes him a winner. Alex played at the Lawrence County Chess and Checker Club (in Newcastle, Pa.) in 1996. Here he lost a few games to his mentor, which made him a winner by expanding his knowledge base of our game. Mr. Checkers even, as Alex would say, "beated" him one game. The day soon came when Alex's knowledge base surpassed that of his mentor--the student had beat his teacher. Losing is nothing more than a teaching tool that shows you in what areas improvement is needed. Strengthening ones knowledge base in those areas will allow you to become a much better and more confident player--a winner who now wins his games.

Yes, the Ms.Becky is correct. To become a black belt, you must train with those that are greater than you.
