Unclaimed winning ticket in Medina

Post by rich beckwith »

We held a raffle for a copy of Alex’s “Sixth” during the National Tournament. Unfortunately, the winning ticket did not have a name written on back, and many players left the tournament early. Does anyone have the following ticket?

424976

If so, please send to me (or e-mail a picture) at 34490 Ridge Road #115 Willoughby, OH 44094

No, I've had no response. Unfortunately, not all Medina participants view this forum. :) Also, it's possible someone threw their ticket away already.

Mrs. Becky, as far as I know - around 20 tickets were sold during the National in behalf of ACF and this gave it a savings of approximately $40.

Many thanks for you fine donation in behalf of ACF.

Respectfully,

Alex

Ms. Becky,

many thanks for your fine donation of free SIXTH copy for raffle in behalf of ACF. I didn't see on forum and during the tournament any references to this fact.

It seems like two copies of SIXTH were donated for the same purpose by two different persons (I was second), and this simply means - two smart people comeup with the same smart idea ! Good math

We need more people and more ideas :D

Regards,

Alex

Hmmmm.... Alex contacted Alan and me by e-mail on his raffle idea before PA Ty. This was the raffle we held. In the end, there was ~$50 raised, I think. This is the first that Alan or I have heard of a separate "Mr. Checkers raffle" for Sixth (although a fine idea). My apologies if an e-mail was missed.

Rich we had talked to Alan several times about this raffle and months before the Pa. Ck. Ty. At that time he thought is was a good idea--and nothing was ever said to us about Alex doing a raffle mainly because he had not thought of it at that time. And Alan said that he would bring the tickets and box for the raffle. In the meantime we purchased a book from Alex and told him at that time that it was for a raffle at the National Checker Tournament. We asked Alex to give the book to Alan the next time he saw him, which would have been at the Pa. Ck. Ty. We also advertised our raffle many times on the ACF Forum--stating that one did not have to be at the tournament to win and also buy a ticket for $1 or 6 tickets for $5 and that we would pay for the shipping for the book if someone was not there but had the winning ticket (if you go back you will find several of these postings--one such posting can be found on page 2 of General Discussion with the title "The "6th"--a $45 Value for only $1"). Others remember these postings being made. It would seem that our donation to this event was not of importance to the ACF and therefore we will re-evaluate any future donations to it activities. Everybody seems to be passing the buck here as to what happened, which to us is not the responsible approach to being truthful as to what really happened here (and it certainly is the acceptable to us). Richard I am sure that the ACF did not forget those that made monetary donations to the National Checker Tournament.

Thanks for the clarification Ms. Becky.

Guess I'm doing too many things at once that I don't have time to read every thread on this bulletin board -- doesn't mean such messages are unimportant.
