Richard Pask about SIXTH

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Perhaps most of ACF forum readers remember, that I had very attractive and a bit aggressive book promotion and advertisement prior it was printed and delivered. After then I decided to stop doing this, because book talks itself and buyers can do this for me, if they find SIXTH helpful and useful tool and source.

In fact, most copies of SIXTH were sold in the past several months and everyone who wanted to buy this book already did this.

Today, after couple monhs of silence, I decided to to make one major exception and say something again. When I received today in mail my copy of EDJ (English Draughts Journal) it was a good and a pleasant surprise for me to find Richard Pask fine review of SIXTH and decided to post it here in forum.

I hope Mr. Pask will not have much objections with this. I also really hope that soon we can see his professional review and corrections of my book and I only wondering - how big it could be ?

SIXTH by Alex Moiseyev

This is a well printed, attractively bound book, replete with diagrams. it is packed with detail analysis of some Alex's finest games, including his 2003 WCM with Ron King, and contains many insightful and entertaining comments. Alex, like Ron and Elbert Lowder, is a most resourceful player, ensuring interest at all times. This factor, combined with his prolific match and tournament record, makes him a very worthy world champion. Although it is unlikely we shall ever see the likes of Long, Hellman and Tinsley again, with Alex and Ron around things are certainly never going dull ! Above all, this fine work emphasises the breadth and depth of the game, and should do much to raise its status among mind sports enthusiasts evrywhere. I recommend it without reservation.

He is certainly right!

Your matches against Lowder and King contained more fighting games then old WC matches with dozens of restgames and pure pp- affairs.
I hope that the Pask-Chandler match that was announced for this autumn will be a similar original match.

Will Pask-Chandler be played ?

I thought it was annonced for this October, but maybe you r better informed, Tommy.

Yes, I am optimistic Tommy, cause, as my mother taught me, the best thing about the future is that you can still hope. There's no hope for the past.
