The ACF Bulletins which were edited by Al Lyman and Al Darrow were created on computers. But the files were lost before they could be saved more permanently. And as far as I know, they (and the earlier Bulletins) have not yet been scanned.

The ACF began in 1948, by a merger of the ACA and NCA. Issue #1 of the ACF Bulletin was published in 1952, with two pages of news and numerous pages of ACF National Ty. games. The Editors have been Lee Munger (1952-1960), W. Burke Grandjean (1961-1989), Charles Walker (1989-1994), Alfred E. Lyman (1994-2003), Al Darrow (2003-2004), Jim Loy (2005- ... ). The most important contributor to the current ACF Bulletin is JR Smith (and his North Carolina Checkers site) who provides the Tournament Results, the Tournament Announcements, and the Obituaries. The other major contributors are Bill Salot and Ed Atkinson. I find that checker problems cannot be done without Bill's work because problems and diagrams are very time-consuming and error-prone. And my thanks to the other contributors and the checker players. And we should all thank the tournament organizers and tournament directors.

What do you like about checkers?: The intricacy and the depth of it.

Thanks for sharing the Bulletins. I was also looking for the Bulletins #396, 397 and 400 ones.

Is there any way of accessing the news aspects of the ACFB from #1 to #159?

I have every hard copy from August 1979 (#160) until the present. Although I consider myself a youngster, that's 41 years as a proud member of the ACF!
